I just fired it up an found a repeatable crash straight away.

Create a piano roll clip,
convert it to a step sequencer,
drag it onto a matrix slot,
double click that matrix slot,
boom.....

no - not here. tried that 3 different ways - all work. you need to give more details on your specific problem.

Hi.

I use Sonar Artist.
Was working perferctly. But after I installed the upgrade, sonar artist will not launch. How to solve?

1) Did you try to restart (reboot) your computer?
2) what version did you upgrade from? What OS and version? Recent Windows updates?
What do you see when you say it fails to launch?

Hi.
I tried to reboot, didn't help. I'm not sure wich version I upgraded from, but I purchased and installed sonar artist for approx 3 months ago. So its no older than that.
It is a very simple laptop for personal use. prosessor is Intel pentium CPU 987 1.5GHz and  6 Gig ram. Windows 10 home, no recent upgrades, at least not after sonar upgrade.
When I start sonar artist, the first square that appears on the screen, black with the sonar name, keeps on hanging there. Nothing more happens.
But, now I figured a way around the problem. I recently purchased a external docing station (ICY BOX Multi docking station). I discovered when the docking station is plugged in (usb 3.0), then Sonar won't launch. If I unplug the docking station, then Sonar launches.
And if I plug again the docking station when Sonar is running, I dosen't affect Sonar.
Not sure what to make of this, I guess the docking station maybe continuisly occupying a service Sonar nomally is using during start up. Or something like that. I'm just happy that I figured out a way around the problem. So this might be a tip:)

At 1.5 ghz your CPU speed is not up to the minimum requirement to run Sonar. Your processor is also not quite out the task either. That would explain Sonar choking while trying to start It when the Docking station is attached.

Check this link out for Sonar minimum requirement.

Matrix view enhancements
Matrix view cells are now editable using the Step Sequencer or the Loop Construction view. Editing a cell is easy, simply double-click on the cell to open it.

Anyway, figured out how this works.  I usually drag midi clips of notes created in the PRV or staff view  directly from the track view into the Matrix.  Double clicking wasn't automatically opening those midi clips in the matrix up with the step sequencer.  Same with midi groove clips from the media browser.   But, I could right click the cell and select "convert midi clip to step sequencer" and then the midi groove could be viewed in the step sequencer.  Pretty cool!   Apparently, midi grooves in the matrix must be converted to step sequencer to be viewed, it's not an automatic thing as I originally thought.  Fortunately, you can convert the clip after it is in the matrix.

Original Post:  Did the update to my Sonar Platinum just now and was excited to check out the Matrix view enhancements.  Well, the audio cells open up in the Loop Construction view just fine but I am not having any luck with the midi content cells opening up the Step Sequencer.  I was able only to get the first midi cell to open but others would not.

I am excited to have this functionality added to the Matrix!  Thanks Cakewalk!

Is this still happening? I followed the steps in 01 and 02 and was unable to repro.

Another way of doing this, by the way, is to press alt+4 with the track you want selected to create a new SS clip (adding a note will create the clip.) You can also create SS clips and tracks directly within the matrix.

Yes. I just tried the steps that creepjoint noted and it crashed again. I sent in the dump report. FYI - I did not post this problem originally, I was just trying it to see if it was reproduce-able.
