Ah, yeah... Not having any PCI slots can be a major disadvantage of any laptop... I never thought of that.

Not a laptop Andy but a desktop, the problem is that ASUS and Gigabyte MoBo's X99 chip-set do not have any PCI slots they are all PCI"e"

John, I just ordered a 'DAW 1000' (more or less) from PC Specialists. They say 8-10 days delivery. Spec, quote and ordering process was very easy and straightforward, and they even asked which browser I would like installed. Will let you know how it goes.

I think I'm with it now. Been a long time since I've bothered delving inside a desktop PC...

There are quite a number of PCIe firewire cards about.

Hi John, just thought I'd give you an update - typing this from the new desktop just arrived this afternoon. Cannot praise 'PC Specialists' highly enough, excellent communications all the way through the build, regular email updates and texts, delivered in well under the time specified, and superbly packaged. 10/10 from me. Now I've just got to hook everything up....

I've just ordered a Zoom UAC-2 audio interface from them, having recently bought the Audient ID-14 elsewhere and had nothing but trouble with it in SONAR. I've heard good things about them, and they're Northern.
