Same feelings here... Constant crashes, bugs, VST problems, an uncertain business model (Where is the "roadmap"?). I really used to like SONAR's UI but currently I can't work with this program and I don't like the "if it's free you can't complain" way of thinking of some nor do I want buggy and meaningless "monthly updates" anymore.
Am I the only one? I am not trying to offend people, I am making a constructive criticism to Bandlab Team.

When Cakewalk closed down I made the move to another DAW.  I still like Sonar but am not putting my eggs all in one basket.  Learn another DAW and make some music.

There's always room for improvement no doubt. But if Cakewalk is giving you a headache move on to something else and stick with that. With that being said...Im not having any crashes or constant bugs here. I know every one works differently but I use a combo of audio and midi and I believe this new CbB is much more stable then Sonars last Platinum update ever was.
It's also a little tough to ask for a roadmap when a product is being given away free.
It would be nice, but it being free kind of leaves users being grateful to have a stable DAW and more importantly having Cakewalks sonar still alive.

In general: if there are bugs, why should one complain? Why not report the bug to the dev team instead and let them investigate and fix the issue?

In my opinion, the monthly SONAR updates were somewhat meaningless: usually just some extra content with very little use (for me). It was understandable, though, because it was a commercial product and the marketing staff needed new features to promote. Bandlab's monthy (or roughly) updates have been bug fixes with very little amount of new features. To me the roadmap looks like this: let's fix the core and do the new stuff only after that.

I can't lead you to a decision on what you should use. You can use whatever you want to use. Take your pick Cubase, Logic, whatever the daw..they have occasional issues too.

What is your computer setup like and what VSTs are you using with issues?

I don't have crashes or experience bugs (outside of clearly pushing VSTs beyond what my computer can handle.  Only VST problems I've had were with Waves...and I'm positive it was a Waves problem, not Cakewalk.  Other DAWs don't provide a roadmap.

The GUI hasn't changed (thankfully) in about 8 years...so it sounds like a personal problem.

What updates do you need to make music?  As long as the current program runs, I seem to be able to make quality productions with it.

Where is the "constructive" part of your criticism?

Sorry no sale as far as the video goes .Simply way too annoying to have to sit through "your conversation" with the game grabbing all the screen time .

I love CBB. To me it's Sonar Platinum ++.

Works a treat in my little rumpus room.

Aha! Poking the bear uh?
Road Map, dude, ever heard of Map Quest or GPS?

CBB is the greatest, hardly any bugs just a few mosquitoes.

No problems, crashes or mixed feelings here.

I would have happily kept using SONAR as-is forever. It was stable and did everything I needed it to do. Having it continue to be supported was just a bonus. Totally agree with bitman's assessment - Cakewalk is SPlat++.

Perhaps you could elaborate on your UI issues. I don't really see much difference between Cakewalk and SONAR in terms of the UI.
