  • I am not the only one with "mixed" feelings regarding CBB (p.2)

Works for me. At this point, not significantly better or worse than other programs. More stable than Sonar Platinum. The monthly updates have been mostly about bug fixes, which I would not consider meaningless. You might consider using a DAW you like as opposed to one you don't; there are plenty of choices.

As to the roadmap, it's north on I-95, north on I-26, then west on I-40. (Noel, I apologize if this violates any non-disclosure agreements, but people have the right to know.)

I agree - this is a great time to be a DAW user.

Sorry no sale as far as the video goes .Simply way too annoying to have to sit through "your conversation" with the game grabbing all the screen time .

Amen!!  Why do some youtubers feel it necessary to do that crap?

As far as Cakewalk:  I changed to CbB back in April.  Done 4 projects with it without the slightest hitch.  DLed all of the updates except this current one.  Holding off on this until some of the user concerns are addressed.  I kept Sonar X3 installed and after I finished my most recent project I tried opening it up in the old X3 and it opened fine.  There was a little warning about some of the plugins may not load at the beginning, but I haven't used anything I didn't have previous access to when I used X3.  I admit I am curious about what's "down the road" with this Bandlab outfit, especially when it comes to software products other than DAWs (Dimension Pro, Ze3A, etc), but I don't use them anyway, so it really doesn't effect me.  I'm just curious for the sake of those who do.

I reverted to an earlier version of Platinum because of a bug that was introduced at some point in its final year. When I briefly checked out CbB it still appeared to have the same bug, so I'm not ready to start using it yet. If I have any spare time I'll check it out again and report the bug, but for now I'll continue with Platinum 22.11.0.111.

I am beginning to think this entire OP post was a sham. I clicked on the YouTube link and I am just pissed that I did.

WTF, Video game in the background?

What a load of crap.

Every DAW has its fans and detractors. For user with insurmountable problems, there's another whose system is working flawlessly. There is no such thing as a DAW - nay, any software - that has 100% satisfied customer base.

That said, Cakewalk is working as reliable for me as SONAR Platinum did. Is it perfect? No. But the issues are nothing I can't work around, and without breaking a sweat.

I tried Reaper and it would have worked out fine, but really, with Cakewalk coming back - and for free - I'd have to be stupid to stop using it on a matter of *principle* or something.

Actually, Scott the guy that did the video is fairly well known. He's done a few Sonar tutorials on YouTube, and supplied the "Withered Moment" demo that shipped with Sonar Platinum. So he's obviously had ties to Cakewalk Inc in the past.

I share his frustration with the Clip Editing issues as they've been there for a while now, and several people have reported issues, myself included.

I do think however the video is a bit of an over-reaction, not to mention harsh on BandLab seeing as they're only really at the beginning of the journey with CbB, and a fair few bugs have been fixed.

It's a bit early to comment on 2018.08.32, but 2018.07 has been absolutely rock solid for me.

Long may it continue!

Geez judging by the reactions to what I said in my previous post , I may have come off like an old curmudgeon who walked into a serious thread and started yelling at The Cakewalk Clouds

In the past I have seen a number of videos by the u tube poster (Ch... Studio )I have gotten something out of those videos back then  ...just not this one .

I wish my life and music was as simple as only having  mixed feelings about " CBB "
After giving my pooch an hour long walk in the secluded woods of my area while coaxing my two working brain cells to enter into a working meaningful dialog , I have come to the conclusion that I have Mixed Feelings about everything in my Life . And I mean EVERYTHING
It doesn't matter what the topic is , be it , Music , The Bizz, DAW's , Wimminz , Guitars , Amps, The Social Issues of The Day,  Money , Property , Prestige , What Ever  .....just to mention a few topics ..
If there is any aspect of life that can bring me pain , joy or happiness  I have Mixed Feelings about it ..

"CBB" seems to be one of the smoothest working things in my life at this point so I'm gonna roll with it
Warts and All

I sincerely thank the OP for starting this thread ...with out it I may not of had my Mixed Feelings Epiphany

One wrong reason I am dedicated to cakewalk is when I sit down to use it I know where everything is and does (mostly) and by reflex action. And with other daws, reaper, ableton I'm like wt...... how do I insert an effect? rewind?  I'm having to use ableton to beta test some software for someone. - Insane, that program.
