Anyone else experiencing an immediate crash upon loading the 64 bit version of Synapse's DUNE 2.501 (latest) in 64 bit version of Sonar Platinum? New Windows 10 install w/all updates, new Sonar Platinum install, M-Audio Profire 2626. Everything is fresh, brand new and updated. Synapse have a long history of buggy plugins, unfortunately, but I was hoping someone in the Sonar community who uses this product could provide guidance, or at least confirm that it works or not. An older version of DUNE 2 works, but I need the 2.5 version to work as I bought a sound bank that requires it. How frustrating.

Thanks.

When you say "An older version of DUNE 2 works" are you referring to version 2.500?  This is the version that was offered as a 30 day trial from the Synapse website.

I downloaded the trial of Dune 2.500 (Synapse's website did not offer me 2.501) and I installed it on a Windows 10 64bit Pro machine with Splat 2017.1 (latest as of Feb 20, 2017) and I was able to call up an instance without any crashing.

I played a few patches (sounded like a excellent synth to be honest) and it played fine without crashing.  For a further test, I loaded an instance of Rapture Pro with a basic sawtooth patch and played both this and Dune simultaneously.  It worked flawlessly.  No crashes or glitches of any kind.

My round trip latency is set to 6 ms with a 96 sample buffer size with the driver mode set to ASIO mode.

I believe the version I have that works is their original v2.0 that I bought when it came out. Unfortunately, Synapse doesn't seem to provide legacy versions on their site. They had a number of interim releases before 2.501, including 2.1 and 2.22, but I don't have them so I must not have done those interim upgrades.

Interesting that 2.5 works for you. Maybe I'll try different options like switching from ASIO to something else, or turning off the 64bit processing engine in Sonar and see if that has any effect.

Interestingly, I can't see the 32bit version of DUNE 2.501 even though it was installed. Is this a Sonar "feature" that I can turn off in order to reveal and then try the 32bit version, if you  happen to know? Maybe this is an issue with the 64bit version.

I'm running the latest version of Dune 2 (fantastic synth, by the way!) under Platinum 22.7 and it works well as a 64-bit VST plugin, no problems.  I'm using a slightly older version of Platinum because of a new bug in the Paste-Special command, which I use often.
I also loaded the demo of same plugin on my office computer, which also has same Platinum version but with a consumer rather than pro sound card and it also runs fine without issues.    I am running Windows 7, that might be the difference, not sure really.

Thanks everyone for the comments. At the end of the day my My Documents/Synapse/DUNE 2 directory only contained 2 subdirectories. After following the instructions from Synapse (in their forum) and re-examining that folder, there were now 4 subdirectories. And the instrument now loads up in Sonar.

Thanks very much. Happy again. :)
