Hey all,

Every time I try to insert "LP MB" or "LP EQ" I get the following error:

"A fatal error has occurred in plugin 'LP MB'.  Module:  C:\Windows\system3aticfx64.dll    Exception code:  c0000005
As a result of this error SONAR is about to exit abnormally."

This has been going on for a while.  I contacted Cakewalk support on December 5th, and they are normally helpful, but not this time.  They told me they are referring this to "a colleague," and now any time I remind them that the issue isn't resolved (bringing the same ticket number back to their attention), they say that I shouldn't do that because it sends the ticket back to them instead of their mysterious "colleague."  Here's the last email I got from Daniel:

"Hello Ben,
Thing is like this,
Everytime you reply to this message it is assigned back to me, so my colleague can't see your message and when i assign again he is treated as a new message."

I feel like I sent my message into an alternate world where Cakewalk doesn't have such good tech support.  I've been having this issue for literally 2 months now with no resolution.  So now I'm trying this forum.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Perhaps in a related note, Sonar never closes correctly now.  Any time I close it, it experiences a "fatal error."  I have uninstalled Sonar entirely and reinstalled from the Command Center.  I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the Engineering Suite, and now it seems like the LP MB and LP EQ are standalone, so I installed them that way too with no change in the behavior.

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Ben

Can you give some more information about your system and Operating system? Have you installed all Windows updates and are you using the latest hardware drivers, especially for your audio interface and graphic cards ( Do this by visiting from manufacturers website, rather than letting Microsoft do it)

I must say I have never had this issue with any of the new Cakewalk Linear Phase Plugins.

Others may have further suggestions

Sure.  I have a Creation Station from Sweetwater, which is designed for audio.  I am running Windows 7.  I tried to upgrade to Windows 10, and when I did, nothing worked anymore, so I immediately rolled it back.

My audio interface is my Behringer X32 via USB cable.  I have kept everything updated that I know of, including the audio cards.  I haven't looked at the graphics card lately, but I will try that.  I believe it should auto-update with my Windows updates, shouldn't it?

Thanks,
Ben

Theoretically , yes it should.  However, when it comes to drivers, I prefer to go to the manufacturers web sites to make sure the right driver gets installed.

Sometimes Microsoft gets it wrong when it comes to drivers and installs a generic driver.

I went and tried for a while today to update my Intel graphics card.  It isn't very specific about what it is... it's like Intel HD core i5 or something, but when I tried to download a driver, there were several possibilities, and none seemed right.  I tried to get Windows to do it, but it said all the drivers are updated.  I did download the driver that made the most sense, but it wouldn't install.  I even downloaded the Intel piece of software that is supposed to search your computer and update any drivers, but it couldn't even find my driver.

I don't really think the graphics card is the issue, but if it is, I'm kind of at a loss as to how to proceed next.

Hi to all,
I had this,too.
The solution was to Reset the VST-Settings in the Sonar Preferences
Best regards

Okay, so I went into Sonar and started to reset the VST's as you suggested, but then I got scared.  Before doing that, I want to clarify something... even after I reset these, Sonar will still remember the settings I have for each session, right?  In other words, I know this will reset the defaults that come up when I open, for example, the Cakewalk Compressor, but if I had set particular settings on that compressor during a particular session, Sonar will still remember that even if I reset these, right?

Thanks,
Ben

A VST reset does not affect the plug-in or its settings in a project in any way. The reset clears and rebuilds the VST inventory in the registry.

Perfect, thanks.

I was just picturing myself going into my projects and having all my effects set back to defaults.  That might be uncomfortable.

I'll try this tonight!

FYI - I believe a reset will remove your choices of plugins that you've removed or renamed.
3 undefined references to Kontakt comes to mind.
