I'm glad to see you've sorted out the problem.

As an aside, another approach to finding out your graphics adapter is:
  1. Right click on your desktop and select "Graphics Properties".
  2. If it comes up with a security warning click run. This opens the "Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel".
  3. Select "Options and Support" at the bottom of the menu on the left hand side.
  4. Select "Information Center".  This might give more information.

Okay, I did this and here's what I'm seeing:

Processor:  Intel64 Family 6 Model 37
Stepping 2
Processor Speed 3325MHz

Accelerator in Use:
Intel(R) HD Graphics
Video BIOS:  2111.0

Does this help me?

Thanks,
Ben

Not hugely. It should also display the driver version.

I wouldn't want to mislead you in to thinking I actually knew what I was talking about, so I think the easy answer is to try the Intel Driver Update Utility linked to above. That will check whether there are any updated drivers available for your graphics adapter.

I have run the Intel utility, and it says it doesn't find anything.

A little more information.  When I run the Intel Driver Update Utility and "SCAN," it gives me this message:

Available drivers for your product:
Intel Desktop Board DH55HC
Windows 7, 64-bit

Window pops up:  "No drivers were detected for your product."

I guess that means your drivers are up to date.

Intel Desktop Board DH55HC takes us here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/42409/Intel-Desktop-Board-DH55HC

The latest graphics driver is: version 8.15.10.2622 of the Intel® HD Graphics Driver for Intel® Desktop Boards dated 01/21/12.

To check which driver you are using go to your Device Manager as described above. Select "Display Adapters". Select "Intel(R) HD Graphics". Click on the "Drivers" tab.

Is Sonar still crashing every time you close it?

Interesting!  My driver is listed as 8.5.10.2104!

Going to download the new one now.

Good luck.

If you encounter any problems with the new driver, you should be able to roll back the driver.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.  This is the first time in months that I haven't gotten a "fatal crash" when I closed Sonar.  I knew it seemed like a driver (especially a graphics driver) issue, but I just couldn't seem to track it down.  Thank you for all your help, and for filling in when Cakewalk Support through email gave up on me.  I hope I can pass it forward someday.

Thanks,
Ben
