  • Anyone know what happened to Kjaerhus Audio? And what does it mean for VC64 Sonar plugin? (p.4)

... Sonar 9... ...and it will be packed with all kind of new goodies and GUI upgrades....

I hope not. We have enough goodies, IMO. I hope they spend a lot of time on professional workflow features and refining the main app. If VC64 dies an ignoble death and fades into the 32-bit limelight, that will be sad indeed, but I definitely don't want Cakewalk to be spending any time on creating a replacement in-house for now. Okay, maybe hire whatever is left of Kjaerhus (if they can find him) to recompile for an x64 version of the plugin, but PLEASE don't divert any important resources from workflow enhancements!

Adding more "goodies" is what got us into this situation in the first place. Fewer goodies, more focus on the main app!

Just my opinion. :)

If this thread isn't enough reason to REFUSE to buy any software with copy protection/activation, I don't know what is....

I would certainly do that if it were an option. Unfortunately, there is virtually no commercial audio software that doesn't employ some kind of copy protection.

I would rephrase your observation as "refuse to buy any software with unreasonable copy protection". What is "unreasonable"? Schemes that make it difficult to re-install software after upgrading your hardware, for one. If you are forced contact the vendor after replacing your computer's motherboard, that's unreasonable. If you are forced to contact the vendor to re-authorize your software for any reason, that's unreasonable. Authorization that requires you to have an internet connection on your DAW is unreasonable.

As a programmer, I rely on a large number of third-party tools and components to make my own software work. Unfortunately, many vendors of such tools are small companies, much like audio plug-in vendors, and sometimes they disappear. This has happened to me on several occasions, causing me tremendous inconvenience and frustration. So now I use fewer third-party components, just as I also use fewer third-party DAW plug-ins. I have become very picky about what new tools I add to my collection.

Yeah...that would really solve the problem.....NOT.

Anyone would be out of business before they even got started.

We are really flooded with software without any registration or activation.

A little reality check maybe.

Hello. I am sorry to necro this thread but I have some awful news, if it hasn't reached you already.

Kjaerhus audio is dead and is going to remain so. Torben Kjaerhus Larsen the guy who wrote the software was caught red handed as the ring leader of 'The Love Zone' and 'Hoarders Hell’ a worldwide network of pedophiles that shared the most vile images and videos you (hopefully cannot) imagine. The Danish state gave him 7 years and the U.S wants to get hold of him too. The Danish General Prosecutor wants the case re-tried and they want him detained on a mental hospital without a set release date (he will be released when he is no longer considered a sick freak and a pervert menace to the public i.e probably never) and this case in going to trial in May this year.

Unfortuantely the whole case might get dropped on the floor because the FBI has become a roque organization (sorry US friends, the truth is what it is). They found the pedo network by infecting the CP servers with malware that spread to the members machines. Clever but unfortunately hacking and spreading malware is illegal. Also if you are the FBI. If you are the law, you kind of have an obligation to at the very least follow it. I hope the court will do a one off and allow the evidence given the horrific nature of the crimes committed (do not search for the details/descriptions of what was found with the ring members, you don't want to know. Trust that. E.g Torben tried to buy an infant in Romania. That was, an infant!).

This is my first and maybe my last post here as I am not a cakewalk user. I was just a Kjaerhus fan looking for answers and when the horrible truth became apparent I just wanted to....no, I felt the need to, share this with other costumers of his on various online producer forums who also wondered what had happened. Well this has happened.

There are plenty of articles in my language (Danish) and I havent' found any english ones which clearly reveals Kjaerhus identity. On demand I can throw the most relevant ones here and you can use google translate or whatever. Needless to say that since 'Kjaerhus' is an unusual surname here in Denmark, my heart skipped a beat when I saw his name attached to this high profile case, and I was looking for evidence that what seemed to be the case, just wasnt so. But it is :(

So I shouldn't use any Kjaerhus plugins if I'm working on any children's songs?

I read it on the Cakewalk forums, so it must be true. Right. A guy with one post swoops in with a horror story and we choose to believe him? Come on people.
