  • Anyone know what happened to Kjaerhus Audio? And what does it mean for VC64 Sonar plugin? (p.8)

The VC64 is removed from my system. Are there any other plugs that he created that are bundled with Sonar?
The last thing I want to see is a constant reminder of a bad person. I don't really care how others react, it's strictly a personal choice.

Apparently he partnered Cakewalk with developing Staff View

 I never use it!

I'm pretty sure that Kjaerhus was NOT involved with Cakewalk's development of staff view.

The person/people that developed Cakewalk's staff view were spun off into a company called Geniesoft, where they created products named Overture and Score Writer. They are still very much in business today, but a few years back the company was renamed Sonic Scores. You can check them out at sonicscores.com.

I don't have their latest version (5), but I do have version 4 of Score Writer, and the dialog boxes for managing midi and audio devices are identical to those used in Sonar!

I feel inclined to do the same. Does anyone know of a good substitute for the VC64? Or even how to copy the settings on a preset to another plugin?

The VC64 is a plugin of multiple parts, it depends a lot on what you use it for. There's the BlueTubes Analog Trackbox which shares a bunch of features. But it has only a single compressor and no de-esser. There's also PSP Vintage Warmer. If you're using it more for mastering you could look to a product like Ozone from Izotope.

EDIT: Oh and it would be nearly useless to copy the settings to another plugin. That's kinda like copying the settings from a Marshall amp to a Fender twin and expecting the same results. Your ears are the best guide here.

I believe that the comment about Staff View meant to be a joke. It was certainly in bad taste though.

Thanks for that information. I kind of intuitively thought that copying settings wouldn't work. I tried that with the LP 64 EQ, to the Reaper EQ, and it didn't sound the same. But I may check into those other options you mentioned.

No. It simply does not belong here.
