Hi folks,

I've been getting intermittent BSOD's over the past few weeks -- not a lot, maybe one every 2 - 3 days -- and I'm wondering if others folks have experienced anything like it. All of the errors are the same - 0x9C Machine_Check _Exception. But when I examine the dump files, the information is frustratingly non-specific, and I see a lot of "unknowns", including the file associated with the crash.

My understanding is that 0x9C errors are often (but not always) associated with hardware problems. I'm using V-Studio 700 with Sonar Platinum 64, in Windows 10 64, so its got me a bit nervous that either my audio hardware is beginning to crap out, or I'm running into Windows 10 incompatibilities with the Roland drivers. It may not be either of those issues -- it could be unrelated drivers, power supply problems, airflow problems, sunspots, or who knows what else -- but I'm a bit tense about the possibilities.

Has anyone had this particular BSOD, or anything similiar to it? And if so, did you resolve the problem?

Thanks,

Rob

Did you update or upgrade anything recently?

Can you go to the windows event viewer and copy/paste the error message?

Also lay out your hardware specs in full.

General advice is you should be running Windows update, updating drivers and firmware everywhere Inc chipset drivers and BIOS.

Next step is to go into your PC and reseat components. Maybe run a memory test.

Def hardware issue exactly what is anybody's guess right now.

This is a probably the better forum for this as it does not appear to be directly related to any specific piece of Cakewalk hardware.  The V Studio 700 is Roland manufactured hardware product carrying the Cakewalk brand Logo.

Red flag. I've never heard of "winthruster" - I would be extremely careful. Have you used this Mesh? Anybody else?
This appears to contain a registry cleaner, do NOT run this. A magic button is not going to fix it...

No, no. no........not Winthruster, that's some sort of ad that's attached to the page.

Your problem is Windows 10 is NOT compatible with the VS-700 Studio hardware. Roland never updated windows 10 drivers. You have to go back to Windows 7 which is compatible with the VS-700.

I doubt it, have been reading other people running it OK with the hack. Unless I'm mistaken. Who here is running VS-700 on Windows 10?

Where is this thread did the guy say he using any hack ? His problem is he's running Windows 10 and VS-700 don't support Windows 10, so stop confusing the guy into believing Roland does support Windows 10.

He can use a Windows 10 hack with some work, but as is his system is incompatible with Windows 10.

I am assuming the OP has done or needs to do the windows 10 hack with the latest driver.

Please don't get confused with the terms 'not supported' and 'not working'.. Plenty of people have unsupported Roland gear working in these forums.

1) At this moment there is nothing pointing to these drivers as the cause of the problem, whether they are or not remains to be seen but you are making a giant assumption here. It could be ANY drivers/firmware/hardware that is the issue.

2) I haven't seen any VS700 users running under Windows 10 posting this problem.

3) Saying he HAS TO go back to previous Windows version is not necessarily true. You don't really know what the issue is unless you are a psychic. You can suggest but you can't diagnose.

4) As I said earlier it would be good if actual VS-700 users provide feedback.

Ultimately see my first post and others advice.
