So I have been using the Yamaha 01v96I by Yahama and it has been great but a bit limiting. I have recently started playing for a band and now I would like to record the entire band live and I need more. What mixer would your recommend 6 piece band, 4 singers and enough outputs to control subs, house and at least 4 monitors?

Behringer X32 + S16 snake ... serves me well, own 2 of them for live use

If you are a tablet mixer person, you could go with the rack or core X32 options and have much less weight to carry.

BTW, mix and record at same time works fine.

I enjoy running my presonus studio/live. It is the older (non AI) version of the 24.4.2. I love it.

I use the Behringer XR18 - 16 Channels XLR, 2 stereo channels (great for Break music), 6 Aux channels (Monitor feeds), Also has Behringer's Ultranet which allows for the PM-16 (16 channels personal monitoring that can be daisy chained but the PM-16 sold separately).

I go to the Xair section, but if you want the pro level like Rob said the X32 is the way to go.  Professional Acts are using this :

All of reviews thus far for the X32 are very good, the only complaint I have read was on the durability side of the things such as the motorized faders going bad and things of that nature. For the money it is hard not to go with the X32 but my hesitation is because I am spoiled by the quality of sound my Yamaha 01v96i gives me. If only the 01 had a few more inputs/outputs it would be perfect. Has anyone had any issues with the durability of the X32?  Also has anyone done studio recording sessions with the X32 and if so how did it interact with Splat?

I am curious if there are 32 inputs on the board what kind of scenario would you need the snake for or are you just using the snake instead of connecting directly to the board?

there are 16 IN / 8 OUT on the X32 rack / compact that I have, so you'd need the S16 snake to get to 32 IN

on the biggest X32 units there are 32 INs, but unless you have a heavy analoge XLR snake and want to mix FOH and not as a stage monitor mixer, than you'd still need a snake (or mix with a tablet) ... tons of options really with the X32s

That is the beauty of the XR-18.  It looks like a stage box with 16 inputs, but it is actually the full Mixer!  You do the mixing on a tablet via wireless network connection (the built in one is not so good in a crowd (2.4 GHZ only), but adding a separate 5 GHZ wireless router and you will get a winning combination!  No snake necessary.  In fact I sold my 16 channel snake (for $250.00!).
