So, a friend of mine has given me a pair of UAD1 cards.
I see I can't buy plugins off UAD's website. What's the best use for my new acquisition? Should I just sell them or maybe can I buy used plugins? I'm new to UAD so I am not aware of my possibilities
The plugins I have sound pretty good BTW!

At one time there was a trade in program for UAD1s , you can still use some of the plugs but you have to have the system transferred to you and create an account, then you can use the plugs. The newer plugs are too big for the horsepower of these units

look at this chart for supported plugs  https://help.uaudio.com/h...3-UAD-1-Instance-Chart

I believe you can still use plug-ins that were coded for the UAD-1, but I'm not sure about buying them, so you'll probably be limited to the plugins that came with it - which is still a pretty outstanding collection!

I still have a UAD-1, and I've been meaning to build a machine with a PCI slot so I can use it again. Of the bunch, the  Nigel plugin was probably the one that I'd like to have access to again. But the rest are still pretty cool.

Contact UA support to get the straight scoop!

I have a pair of UAD-1 cards here that were a gift from a forum user. Sadly, I cannot use them as my computer has no PCI slots. I've even considered getting a PCI bay for them, but they're not cheap.

I wonder: I know it'd be technically illegal, but why would UA have a problem with users sharing old software that's no longer available for purchase?

Hey Bit - I don't think it would be illegal, but I also don't think it would work, the plugins have to be authorized from the UA server, and I do not know if they are still authorizing the old code.

I'm in the same boat by the  way, trying to figure out a reasonable way to install PCI  cards is not trivial!
