Focusrite has responded to my query about drivers. Basically, if you own a Saffire or similar product, you're toast because, as many of you have noted, changing FireWire cards hasn't helped a darn bit lately:

We appreciate the feedback, and I understand what you are saying.

Unfortunately, there are no further updates planned for the Saffire range of products since they are discontinued.

However, most issues with Saffires on a Windows computer come down to the Firewire card that is being used.

I don't expect you to have any issues if you are using a tested and compatible Firewire card (see link below for more details).

I hope that helps, and let me know if you have further questions.

Best regards,

OK, here's where I'm at now.... I have eliminated firewire altogether. I bought a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 (USB). Well, guess what.... I still have the same problems. So basically, at this point I have bought a new computer and a new interface just to try to get Cakewalk working properly for me. I'm getting pretty skeptical that I am ever going to get that. I'm totally out of ideas at this point. And, once again, through all of this, Studio One works perfectly. As much as I hate the idea, it's looking like I may have to bite the bullet and make the switch to Studio One. I mean, I've really tried here but, it just doesn't seem to be working out.

Rodreb, I know it is frustrating when one DAW apparently has no problems while another is struggling. Because it suggests that the problem is not hardware.

In my case, Studio One was the DAW with the problem - it refused to recognize my USB MIDI interface! Sonar of course had no problems at all.

That said, I have used a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 USB  (2nd Gen) with Cakewalk By Bandlab with no noticeable issues, but of courses so many variables.

One thing I did was map out the USB controllers in my system and gave the audio interface its own dedicated hub. There are a couple of utilities that can help you do this. It may make a difference.

Need a big "Ok" button.. -Pre selected so one could just press enter every time. I'm getting tired of this.
