It might be the old template.
I'd try recreating a new one to see if that fixes the issue.

That's a logical trouble shooting step to eliminate the possibility that it is the template.
Just put a new instance in a new blank project without using a template and see if the problem persists.
If it's ok with the new attempt then you've got your answer.
If it's still odd after freezing then you know what else to look at.

Freezing mono synth outputs has always added 3dB. I'm not sure why the Bakers have allowed this to persist; it's a pain. I often use stereo outputs for synths even when the source is a monophonic sample just to avoid this. Unfortunately, it's not possible to do that with drum synths that use the two sides of each stereo pair for different kit piece outputs. But is doesn't happen when bouncing so I usually leave Drum synths unfrozen.

I have not experienced this with mono outputs ever before. This is even more strange given this new info.

Freezing has been working just fine here on both mono/stereo freezes all the time for me until 2017.01...


I did just started a fresh project, inserted AD2 and quickly tested freezing and it appears to be a near 4db difference (peak sonar metering)...

I don't want to, but maybe I should roll back to 2016.12 and see if it truly performs differently.

I can't imagine that all this time my mono out were coming back hot and I didn't notice? I believe I would have noticed, eh?

So I'm thinking there must be some changes that are making some systems behave differently?

Obviously it is not show stopping, but it is disconcerting...

The 3dB gain when freezing mono synth outputs has been an issue going back to SONAR 5. Correcting it with the Gain slider has become such a habit that I don't even think about it anymore. It'd be a greater inconvenience if they suddenly fixed it.
