Splat = Sonar Platinum.
Most scan problems seem to happen to folks who choose other than default settings.
Just set it to do Background scans. That way Sonar checks if there's any new plugins not scanned since it last ran. Even if you were to install a plugin during normal operation of Sonar, the VST scanner will update that plugin only. Sonar does not stop working to do that ad any normal program operations continue.
