Hello all,

When I create and save a plugin layout I'm having a problem viewing it. - It all looks fine in the browser but when I right-click on the FX bin of a track and try to view the plugins nothing is showing up.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Not at my PC right now, butt I'm sure when you set up a plug in lay out, when you view it in different areas, it doesn't always show your custom view - I found this out yesterday when I was adding FX to a bus.

I think it's right mouse button on the FX bin, select view/select plugin layout (can't remember actual name), then select your custom view. Hopefully that should fix it.

Yeah, you're on the right track, CPFC.  It's right click on the bin/Audio FX/Plug-in Layouts.  There you should see all (custom) layouts.

Kind regards,

P.S.  Where is your sidekick R5D5?

Thanks for the responses.

Unfortunately the problem isn't that I can't/didn't select the layout, it's that I can't view it.

For example, I've made a layout called 'Audio FX', this includes all VST effects, when I select the layout it all looks fine in the browser, but when I right click on an effects bin and go to select a plugin the only content of the layout is two folders, one called 'Cakewalk' and the other 'Sonitus:FX', none of the other VST effects are showing up.

When you created the layout did you use the “new” button next to “Plug-in Menu Layout” located in the upper right corner of the Plug-in Manager?

have you been saving the custom layouts ? also remember you can assign different layouts for different parts of sonar, so try a few different ares, track view, console view, global options (the ribbon)

If you go to Edit, preferences and check the path for plugin layout open that open and see your pgl is saved in that folder. If not do a search on your computer  find the new layout you saved an drop it to this folder.
On my computer which is 64bit windows 7 this is the path C:\Users\John\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\SONAR X2 Producer\Plug-in Menu Layouts
If you have microsoft excel you can open the file .pgl as an  XML and you can verify the plugins in there against the registry settings. Be careful.
The registry setting to these plugins is
HKey Current User
software
Cakewalk Music Software
sonar producer
cakewalkVST X64
Inventory

I have an issue with the Plugin Manager which I have posted in another thread. My plugin ezplayer.dll will not show up when I add it to a folder under cakewalk plugin manager.  The path is correct and the plugin is working. My Presonus has no issue with loading as a softsynth. It has to be some type of  bug in the plugin manager.
I have created a menu for my plugins which work ok when selected whither its from Track, console, ribbon even ezplayer works if i make it just a vst.   I hope to try and resolve this at the weekend when I get back. through the registry. Make a copy of the registry by exporting it out and save on a usb if your going to play around in there.

fitzj, have you verified your EZ Drummer Dll is in the correct folder?
often after the ezdrummer update, I think 1.3.5 ?
its the update that made EZD 64 bit, it, for sonar puts it in the wrong foder and you must copy/paste it to the corre4ct plug in folder

I have seen this same issue. I believe it to be a glitch. Sometimes the layouts seem to work in the browser and sometimes they don't work when trying to add a plugin via the FX bin.

Hi Its the ezplayer not showing ezdrummer is 100%. The ezplayer is in the same folder as ezdrummer.dll as the last post said its a glitch of some sort in Sonar X2a that happens now and then on some systems. Work perfectly in my other DAW's.
