  • ( SOLVED ) PRV Snap to/by is not cooperating correctly - 2016.10

2016.10
Notes in PRV can't be snapped to the selected (on the top right) Grid.
The "To / By" switch is toggled to "Move To" but I never had to do that in X3 in PRV.
Even so, notes still can't be snapped to the selected (on the top right) Grid.

In X3 with the "Move By" selected,
It would always just snap to the grid selected on the top right,
and also correctly "Move by" when drag copying things that were off the grid.

Smart grid is off, never have had it on in X3, but it doesn't matter.
Same problem with Smart Grid turned on.
If I play a part in and then try to snap to the grid it wants to snap like "Move by" would work in X3
Even when "Move to" is selected.

The work around is to Highlight the problem notes and Quantize them but it's a real pain to have to do
extra steps when it was so easy in X3.

Any thoughts?
Is there a new feature that I'm missing that needs to be turned on or off?

Could this possibly be because I'm using track templates that were created in the previous version?

More info:
I added a new MIDI track, assigned it properly and now snap is working correctly.
So I am guessing that it's related to old track templates created in an older version?

Has anyone else experienced this and OMG I hate to think of having to recreate all of my track templates every time I upgrades sonar.

Is this being addressed anywhere with the updates?
Has it possibly been fixed in a newer version , newer than 20 16.10?

Thank you!

What happens if you open the old track template in a new version, then save it from the new version?

Too difficult to test it now.
I'm in the middle of a project here but that's a thought for the future.
I'm not even convinced that is happening with every track from the track templates so I'll have to look at that later also but thanks for getting back to me. Good news is I'm back to work on what I was working on and it's working... because I deleted the midi track it was giving me problems and just created a new midi track.

PRV snap has it's own To/By setting in the resolution drop-down, and unfortunately the Bakers defaulted it to 'By' when it was introduced.

Wow ... I forgot all about that. Maybe that was the problem.
I'll remember that it's there now.
Thank you.

Craig Anderton ... very cool tunes!

The full-length, 12-song "video album"
Neo-Psychedelic Music for the 21st Century is now posted on my YouTube channel - yes, it was all done with SONAR.

Solved by the snap to / by in the drop-down menu at the top right

Your post brought up an interesting point: custom templates built on old SONAR versions.
It's been my experience that it's worth rebuilding these every few versions, as the templates may have been built on a version whose code is quite a bit different now. I've found more than a few little odd behaviors that are fixed when I build new templates. Anyone else found this, and is this just becoming "best practice" to rebuild those when major revisions in the program occur?

Thanks, I appreciate the props! Starting this weekend I'll be posting songs from the next album on craiganderton.com.
