  • RX DeClick - Silences Part of Clip when Processing Audio

I'm trying to use the standalone RX DeClick to fix a chair squeak in one of my tracks.

To accomplish this, I'm selecting the region then right-clicking and going to Process Effect -> Audio Effect RX 5 DeClick. I dial in my settings and process the clip, however 75% of the clip is now silenced! No matter how long/short the clip is it only seems to process a quarter of the audio. I thought it might be an authorization issue, but I checked and it says it's registered/authorized.

Furthermore, I can follow the same steps except using RX Connect to open the full RX 5. In there, I can fix the audio using the DeClick and when I send it back, it sends back just fine. However, it would be extremely time saving to just be able to directly use DeClick. Is there any other reason this would be happening?

I load RX DeClick into the effect bin.
Then I split the clip at the beginning and the end of the region that must be processed.
IMPORTANT: Then Apply trimming to the whole track - so the new clips are separated.
Now process the single clip. After that you can bounce the clips together.

Currently I also have problems to process a part of a clip.

I'm pretty sure the plugins have a limited time of audio they can process, try splitting the clip around the area you need to process.

Splitting the clip didn't seem to make a difference. It doesn't seem to matter how short the clip is I'm trying to process. The one I just tried was less than a measure long. It still cut off about halfway through the measure. If I do a three measure clip, it processes the first two but then cuts out part of the 3rd.

its nice to have these tools at your disposal and a simple note: my post wont help you with RX.
But I find using other methods to do the same job. tight close editing.

Where is the part of the chair squeal ?
is there vocals or a corresponding melody in that spot ?
if there isn't, simply do what I call "beg and borrow" ...or.. "Steal".

- Line up the grid the best you can using the tempo function (this will help with grid placement)
its not necessary but it can be an assistant.
- Zoom in to find the beginning of the offending part: Find the in / out points and use a marker for each one.
- Find another part of the song which has the same part. If there isn't one, get creative. go back a measure.
change a part (this may lead to a creative revolution).

I do a lot of editing in this field (deglitching, removing digital clicks, exc). and I have found ways to get create.
Trust me its not an easy job but get creative and avoid trying to re invent the wheel with plug ins.
Only when I have exhausted all resources will I grab for a plug in like RX (I own the suite).
and for those processes, I do in stand alone mode, not inside of sonar.

what chuck said.

if the noise is under voice, here's my take.

clone the track with clips, archive one so you have a backup.

clone the track without clips 3 times, then cut the offending area only and paste or shift-ctrl-drag, to all new tracks. try rx dialog denoiser on one, declick on the other. then blend the two, muting the original, unfxed clip. if you get what you like from the other 2, delete it, otherwise try to blend all 3...
