For me, I un-checked the key bindings box, as I want my custom bindings to persist at all times. I believe one could also uncheck the "custom" module in the CB so that it persists in all Lenses. Craig ( or anyone) correct me if I'm wrong there.

If you uncheck the "Custom" module, the Lens simply removes the module from CB, i.e. you won't be able to use the module at all.

The old screenset module was neat, tidy and allowed to access different screensets just by clicking on one of the numbers (1-10) on it. Why was it gotten rid of?

It wasn't! It's still there. I find combining Lenses withe Screen Sets ideal. If you don't like Lenses, set the drop-down menu to "None" and forget about them. I just don't see the reason for all this angst. It's like any other feature: If you don't like it, don't use it. Nothing was taken away.

Well, where is it then? Here is a screenshot:

I've actually just updated to 2016.11 again just to check. It's NOT there, so I'll be reverting yet again, unless I'm missing something here...

Thanks for posting the screenshot. It looks like your custom CB layout (which was there in 2016.10 and prior versions) was somehow overwritten by a CB layout of one of the factory lenses. After rolling back to 2016.10, recreate your desired CB layout again and export it (CB layout is stored in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR\Platinum\MCBControlBar). Then install 2016.11 and import the layout. It will probably restore your layout successfully, including the Screenset module (I experienced a similar problem, and could solve it by this method). Also, I recommend creating a custom lens (by clicking "Save lens" in the Lens drop-down), in order not to have your CB layout messed up by a factory lens again.

Thank you very much, icontakt I really appreciate your help.
I am going to stick to 2016.10 though. It all sounds like too much bother to be honest. Hopefully it will be resolved in December. If not, then I'm out.
I really miss the old Cakewalk, the one with no take lanes, multidock and all this pointless crap. Perhaps I'm getting old... ;)

I wonder if CW had called them workspaces would people be more accepting?

I wonder why CW does not call them worspaces.
It would sound more intuitive, at least for Adobe users...

Or have I missed something? Is 'lens' a widely used replacement for 'workspace' nowadays?

+0.5. I understand your point (I'm getting older, too) but to be honest, SONAR has taken huge steps forward since MultiDock free and track layers days and I wouldn't call new features as 'pointless crap'.  Many people seem to find MultiDock very useful. Also track lanes are good if you don't try to treat them as layers. It took me a long time but now I'm fine with track lanes...

I hope the Bakers are reading this. Although MultiDock and Take Lanes are both vital for my workflow, I understand some users don't want to use them at all and want to completely remove them (not just hide/collapse). Incidentally, Lenses are designed to allow users to remove features/views that they don't want to use/see, but, unfortunately, both MultiDock and Take Lanes aren't included in the list of removable features/views. Let's hope they will be covered in a future update.

ditto.
I don't think age has anything to do with it except to maybe have more common sense and not being impressed by flash over function.

Late to the party here but FWIW, I'm digging lenses. I modified an existing layout by adding a docked synth rack to the browser, time line H:M:S and customized control bar. Saved it as a new lense and it works a treat. I never used screensets for whatever reason, so this is kind of cool!

I'm very sorry to hear this. What has happened to Sonar Platinum is everything that was once in 8.5 has been restored with much better user interaction. I wont list all the improvements for there are way too many. I will just say that Sonar Platinum is now far and away a better DAW than Sonar 8.5 ever was. We have things now we could only dream about in the past.  With the addition of Lenses CW has brought back layouts. In combination with Screensets one has the ability to customize their workspace and workflow to an unprecedented level.

I would never give up Pro Channel or have the Multi dock taken away. The Browser is a jewel. At the moment some are seeing some glitches. That is an unfortunate situation for those having trouble. We do know that those problems will be fixed and what we will be left with is a super powerful DAW that can be used for darn near any purpose relating to music creation.

Fellow users we need to see how full our glass is and not dwell on past nostalgic remembrances that are colored by our false projections of what things were like. They were never this good or this powerful. Try to think about what we have and not what is in reality was a non existent past that was in fact very limited.

I'm not unsympathetic to those not liking Lenses; I can appreciate what they will do for my workflow once dialed in, but I'm also working/experimenting with how my Project Templates/Screensets/Lenses work together ( and how sometimes they don't..and there are a few glitches). I guess I have faith that if enough of us USE them and discuss how they are interacting with other settings, the bakers will revise and refine.

As for the "I miss the old SONAR" sentiment...I sort of understand that too, but at the same time work methods march on with time and music production techniques...and SONAR must march with them ( and typically we do as well). You could choose to not use Take Lanes and the MultiDock as well as Lenses. Ironically, it almost seems like Lenses is aiming at doing exactly that : allowing you to hide many of the features you don't want to use. Maybe you could create a global Lense that is used ALL THE TIME that has all the stuff you don't need hidden.
