  • MIDI chase - note ending bug?

Hey all! I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this oddity since updating to 2017.01..
I'm finding that, with note chase enabled, some midi clips are continuing to play after the notes have ended, and will continue to play until the next notes come in. This appears to happen after I have edited the clips slightly, but so far I can't repeat it in a new project. It has so far happened on two separate tracks. Without note chase enabled, the clip starts and ends as normal.

Anyone else seeing this?

edit: if you play from where the notes start, this doesn't happen. But if you play after the start of a note (so it is being "chased"), it will.

You'll probalby need to give a more detailed description of the exact conditions under which this occurs. For example, what synth, what kind of edits, and are the edits being made during playback or while looping? And how many milliseconds is your MIDI 'Prepare Using' buffer?

Hmm ok.
It has happened on two instrument tracks so far - one with Massive, the other with Korg Legacy mono/poly vsti.
The edits have both been similar. I have a sustained note or chord that lasts 8 bars. I have then shortened the note(s) by 2 beats at the end - so now it lasts 7 1/2 bars. These are done when playback is stopped.
My 'prepare using' buffer is 250 ms.

My 'prepare using' buffer is 250 ms.

Regardless, it should be set to a minimum of 500ms.

Learning Midi. Why 500ms? Thanks.

There is nothing magical about 500ms. It was the default value prior to X1 and some users find it works better than the current default. Some users need to set the value to 750 or higher for good results.

At less than 500ms, some people experience dropped notes. Since this is a ms setting, more evident on higher bpm projects.
