So what's the verdict?  Between SPLAT, audio and other drivers, and other potential compatibility issues, is it still too early to comfortably go to Windows 10, i.e., are most of you that have upgraded finding that most drivers still work and that most other hardware/third-party software has caught up?  Or is too much of a hassle at this time and probably wise to wait some more?

Thanks.

Seems that the biggest problem is the drivers for Audio interfaces, there is no legacy firewire support for 10 at this moment much as with 8.x, though they did relent in the end for 8.x.

Other than that annoying feature I have no complaints.

THere is a thread that lists what is working in the way of drivers. Sonar is good to go, it looks like Roland has updated what they haven't abandoned and Steinberg is issuing updated drivers. That covers my system.

Rwork arounds for those Roland/Edirol units (that i have) that were not updated, no problem with Focusrite (yes Doc, we know, if you have a TI Firewire) .......

There were and are other freds about this subject and i fully expect this one to join them !

I was and am good to go with W10.

I've upgraded 3 systems (2 laptops, one DAW desktop) and had almost* no errors at all. These upgrades were all from Windows 8.1, which also ran fine. For the first time ever, I didn't even have to reinstall any my software!

It has been stable, super fast, no OS crashes. Nothing to speak of.

You will need to research for yourself and find out if your drivers are compatible. I won't be upgrading till new year first six months can occasionally get rough in the waters for any new OS upgrade.

Hi there,
I don't know where no legacy firewire support came from, but in windows 10,  it's there. I have a TI Firewire card in my system for my Focusrite Pro 40 audio interface and it's working great.....
Other than that, the only thing I can suggest to people who do want to upgrade to windows 10 is do download all of the latest drivers for your hardware and put them safe on another hard drive and when a windows 10 driver doesn't work right, you have the latest and correct driver for your hardware..

Not sure if others are having this minor issue, but I've noticed that with Win 10 Pro my internet connection has been intermittent.
I'm using a Broadcom ethernet driver (which Win 10 automatically installed and states it's the best available driver), but it keeps kicking me out every 20 minutes or so, and then in a minute or two I'm automatically connected again. It's very annoying as I also game online and do get kicked out in the middle of gaming.

Microsoft is aware of this problem and suggest to use the Win 8/8.1 drivers in compatibility mode (until a better driver is available): [link=http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_web/windows-10-intermittently-drops-ethernet-andor/ea96e7bf-e1cb-4ed9-8782-f20dceab3e2d]http://answers.microsoft....4ed9-8782-f20dceab3e2d[/link]. With everyone being 'online' all the time, I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't already issued fix for this.

However, at Broadcom there's a newer driver available, but it's only slightly better (dropping out after <= 35 min):

I'll test out the Win 8.1 drivers and see if it's more stable.......other than this issue, I've found Win 10 has been really good in all other applications. Certainly not a deal breaker here, but annoying nonetheless.
