My PCR-800 does not work in windows 10 and there are no driver updates for it. I really don't know if Roland will come out with a newer version of this driver as this midi controller has been discontinued for some time. So I reinstalled windows 7 on the computer that i use for recording.

Hi all:
It is really good that you got it to work well after the updates.
For me, I did 2 updates and the computers work ok. Except that it is slow, boot up is slower than on Win 7, and network copying is very slow.
For the non DAW computer, I did a clean reinstall from scratch, meaning erasing the whole hard drive and start new.
For the DAW computer where it has my Sonar, I reverted back to Win 7.
Had to say that after the clean reinstall, the non DAW computer works really fast, and everything is flawless.
Btw, the clean reinstall does not require the Win 10 key code at all.
Haven't got time to do a clean reinstall for the DAW computer yet.

A lot of people complained about this on the internet and they are right.  I am surprised that you got it to work really fast after the straight update.

If anybody here has any idea on how to do it, meaning update from Win 7 to Win 10, and not having to do a clean reinstall, then please let me know.

You can do a clean install if you have enough room on Win10 for a dual boot, then you can keep your old OS. Install Win7 on the new partition first, upgrade to Win 10 (make sure you run the upgrade from Win7). Then wipe and install Win10 again. That way you can do it slowly slowly when you have the time.
Clean install is generally a pretty good idea.
BTW you don't ever need a key code, it's all in the cloud.

If you upgrade to Win10 via your old Win7 configuration, you then will need to spend some time troubleshooting your specific issues. So either way it takes time, there is no magic solution sorry. You are better off just biting the bullet IMHO.

Thanks Dok.
Doing a clean install is no problem, but reinstalling everything and authorize it is a pain,
I will probably do it next week.

NP.
To add if you dual boot, if it ends up being a dead end you still can carry on with Win7. Win10 ended up being a dead end for me because my audio interface drivers are not ready (Focusrite working on it).
Always recommend backing up to something like Acronis and an external hard drive first in case something goes tits up.

Cheers...

Most folks' experiences seem expected in a general sort of way (that is, some good, some bad, some ok).  Also, seems that the issues are mostly (all?) hardware related, which is not surprising.

I'll be waiting, or not upgrading at all, b/c I use too many pieces of hardware (four interfaces - crazy, I know, but I have three drumkits and then use an additional interface for mixing and rendering).

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out with the various hardware manufacturers, hopefully in a good way.
