The product key (or what info they store on your system) they have stored in their cloud servers for win10. If you aren't on win10 by Aug 2016 you are extremely likely to be rejected for a win10 upgrade. Their servers would have taken note that you rolled back and probably have released your key back into the wild. Rolling back puts bck exactly where you were.

Ignore the tray icon (or uninstall it). It's just pesterware does nothing really. It will probably fully disappear in Aug 2016 though :)

Perhaps, but FWIW, when you roll back you receive a message telling you that you are welcome to come back and install Win10 at any time in the future.

Of course. But did they say you can still upgrade for free from Aug 2016?
