Thanks Stevec, I'll look into it. support ticket is also in the works.
I'm the Admin, so if it's a permission thing I'm not sure what changed. (what should I look for?)

Assuming that you have your antivirus off?

yea, there is no AV to turn off. All the basics have been tried. I even made sure the power was plugged in.
Ignoring the errors shows Shared folders, so I tried going into each folder and changing the security settings and it still won't install.

I have encountered the exact problem. Cakewalk techs are very helpful but have so far not been able to come up with a fix. Tried the uninstall, re-install, disable anti-virus, run as administrator, re-download installers route without success. I have submitted a .dmp file that was created when attempting to run Sonar after the installation. I am now waiting on a response and, hopefully, solution. I will update this thread when I have an answer from the techs.

Being the Administrator is not the same as running a program with privileges upgraded to Administrator. To do the latter, right click the file and in the properties dialog select Run as Admin. Without uninstalling Sonar, I would run the Sonar installer again this doing as I explained.

Hi Mike. Thanks for the advice. Yes, I have done that already but, unfortunately, the problem persists.

Then I think you may need tech support help.

A Windows update remedied the problem!

Despite successful installs on 2 desktops and 2 Surface Pro 3's I can't for the life of me install on a newish HP Envy laptop. Same errors. Looking for common elements and was wondering what systems (brands and models even if home built) others with this prob were using.

I've tried everything suggested in this thread and then some (manual download/install; checking for missing dll's and other files, safe mode, etc.)

Cheers.

Old thread alert.
The thread is about ..

Install error - Unable to register the DLL /OCX:RegSvr failed with exit code 0x3

Unless you are getting that it would be a lot more productive to start a new thread. Your issue is likely to be different than the OP's anyway so I suggest a new thread nevertheless.
