I searched for Melodyne on the forum....Found some answers, but not for MY situation..
I have Melodyne Editor 2.xx. Installed on my desktop...for years.
I wanted to install Melodyne 4, the one that comes with my Sonar plat lifetime whatever on MY laptop. Had Plat since the first edition. I just never installed anymore than Sonar Plat on my laptop, NO melodyne. So I cannot go to UPDATE in melodyne essential sonar version, because I cannot register it ?. I tried to activate (after installing on my laptop) But Error message, serial # not accepted by server?

Any ideas?
Thanks

The Melodyne that comes with Sonar Platinum is the Melodyne Essential (the lightest version).
I believe all Melodyne licenses are updated through the Celemony site, so if you installed Melodyne Essential 4, you would be downgrading from Editor 2.

Also, don't think you can run (or own) 2 different versions of Melodyne, especially on the same computer, since the install program always replaces the current version.

If I am wrong, someone please correct me, but that has been my experience with the Melodyne versions.
Why not just install Melodyne Editor on your laptop as well, that worked for me.

First, I am NOT trying to run 2 versions. MY Editor version (which is 2.xx) is ONLY installed on my DESKTOP PC. NOT, I repeat, not on my laptop. So I wanted to try the essential version 4.xx that came with my subscription , 25 years + with Cakewalk on my LAPTOP. I would like to JUST check out the CW version 4.xx?

Hope that clears it up.

I also think my original post is fairly clear...

I also thought my post response was clear, you have to go through Celemony for the licenses, not the Sonar site.

So when you go to the Celemony site, your existing license is for Editor 2 version. The Cakewalk Melodyne Essential version 4 will be a much scaled down version of your Melodyne options compared to Editor 2 version. You can easily just run Editor 2 on your Laptop, why would you want to run Melodyne Essential 4, with way less features ?

I'm thinking if you just want to check out the CW version essential 4, you would have to downgrade from Editor 2 on your desktop as well. Give it a try. One way to find out.

You may need to email Celemony.

All versions of Celemony 4 are the same file. Your licence unlocks various features. So if you have Melodyne 2 and 4 you probably won't be able to run. Them on the same computer. As I said it's worth emailing them. I've always fond them very responsive and helpful.

OK I give up. Not what I asked and not running 2 of anything. Is the Sonar edition not a version 4 product now, but less feature rich Essential version?
Also, I asked for help and it would be my business if I want to install a less powerful program on my laptop just to see what version 4 of anything celemony looks and feels like compared to my OLDER program, regardless of features and power.. Jeeezzz.
Sorry I asked....Lets just forget I asked. If I could delete the thread I would......

Typically when you upgrade versions (like 2 to 4) your license is upgraded to support the newer version, so they'd have to essentially allow two licenses.  I agree with the above that you should check with Celemony whether a single Melodyne license can simultaneously cover two computers with two different releases.
Unless of course someone here has attempted to do that before...

To all that replied...I thank you and understand that I guess I have not conveyed my issue clearly. There is NO issue with 2 licenses, etc,. My desktop has my Editor 2.2 on it. My laptop has NO Melodyne. I wanted to install the Sonar X3 melodyne included essential on my laptop. Then I could just see, that's all, what a version 4 of Melodyne looked like (the CW version of essential is up to Version 4 essential. I have owned it but never used it. My editor 2.2 version on MY DESKTOP ONLY should not even enter into the issue.  Is that not clear to everyone? How else would one explain this? I truly do not understand the confusion here?

But anyway, it turns out that CW issued DUPLICATE Melodyne essential  SERIALS to some members with Sonar X3. I was one of them.
Celemony sent me an email explaining CW's error and a link to a CW FIX IT page.
I typed in my Sonar X3 serial and my (duplicate, not working) melodyne essential serial. Clicked submit and a NEW serial number was generated with a Sorry for the hassle.
Hope that explains this better. Although I thought I did the first time. I never mentioned having 2 versions of Melodyne on the same computer. Never, ever. Oh well
Thanks again
