Is there a way to have automation on a track to fade in and out the send to a bus that has an effect in it?

I have a single audio track that I want effects in but I cannot do any splits as it is continuous audio.

Yes, insert a send to the bus with the effect.  Then, in the original audio track, create a Send Level Envelope.

ahh, Send Level envleope? I couldn't find that under the T options? Hold fire...I think I've found a reference in the manual....

Nope, reading it it makes no sense apart from getting the output of the track to go to the bus. I'd already figured that one haha! Cannot see any reference to Send Level Envelope (nothing in the manual under that search term either?)

Once you've got a Send to the bus, in the Track View there's a dropdown to choose between Clip, Automation, and 2 other options.
Select Automation, and you'll see an option for everything you can automate.  Including one for Send Level.

Just click the "W' button on the track so that it lights up, press "Play" and move the send level.

No that doesn't work...all that does is either draw an envelope for the panning or track volume - makes NO difference to how much is going to the effect in the bus. I mean know how to do envelopes on tracks, but in this case I want to fade an effect in and out as the track plays along. So I thought sending to a bus with the effect in the bus would do it..

If you add a send it should show up in the drop down menu when the filter is set to automation.

Figured it...I need to right click in the left pane and choose "Insert Send"...it's easy after that :)

Thanks all!

you also don't need to automate a send if you don't want. just open up the FX GUI (that's in the bus) and click the R and W buttons to read/write. then move around your controls.

I use a send myself. but sometimes I don't want to have the whole FX, sometimes I just to adjust the feedback or level, amount of delay, exc.

then I use an automation lane to fine tune (get the node right down to the 1/16).
