No that doesn't work...all that does is either draw an envelope for the panning or track volume - makes NO difference to how much is going to the effect in the bus. I mean know how to do envelopes on tracks, but in this case I want to fade an effect in and out as the track plays along. So I thought sending to a bus with the effect in the bus would do it..

1. Insert a SEND from track to bus
2. Right click the Send Level and choose Write Enable
3. Play project and move Send Level up/down
4. Right click the Send Level and disable Write Enable
5. Edit envelope to taste

2. in the Track Edit Filter, choose Automation > Bus name > Send level
3. Edit envelope to taste
