Don't use USB 3. its Windows-compatible computer with a USB 2.0 port.

have you set it up to the specs of Tascams site here ?
http://tascam.com/product/us-16x08/faqs/

if you scroll down this page it gives step by step details on how to set it up in sonar.
does this look about right ?

Test i have followed All Tascam instructions
I would try install Microsoft default usb driver for usb controller c600/x79 instead off it's own ,that's the Final thing i haven done yet

it could possible be in the direct monitor settings, im not sure if the 16x08 has direct monitoring but it could be some kind of feedback loop in the routing of the device itself.

maybe the output of your routing is causing a loop

What kind of "noise" is it? A high-pitched whine? White noise?

After contacting Tascam support they recommended another USB controller than integrated Intel USB, then bought PCI Express card with NEC Renesas USB 3.0 controller and a VIA Labs VLI805 USB 3.0 controller and this solved the problem no noise any more.

Thanks for circling back and letting us know of the solution. This will benefit others, and potentially not just those with the TASCAM 16x08.

FYI - My US-16x08 kicks butt connected to a USB3 port.  Just like everything else USB, it comes down to the hardware & drivers.  Some USB3 ports will do USB2 well and others won't.

My US-20x20 also works great with USB 3.0. However I have an older motherboard, so I got a USB 3.0 PCI card. That's the solution for a lot of USB 3.0 issues.

What USB cards did you guys buy?

I cannot get the 16x08 to work.

Using 2.1 interface.

A new installation of w10, latest sonar.

All the stuff that should be done for windows audio, and usb power options, and sharing drivers, has been done.
(and all the stuff to stop w10 from whatever has been done)

Initially i installed it on the computer that has been running fine for almost two years. I uninstalled teh driver, and the computer would boot. The OS disk was poop-on-a-rope. Hence the fresh OS install.

results:
windows music and vids in youtube work fine
Sonar starts, finds the tascam, but any project immediately crashes upon play.
Drop-out message displayed, error message display: cannot find audio device  and a windows error sound
(computer will not start when connected to usb 2 port.)

installed on 2nd computer.: same audio results

Sent message to CW tech, they sent me to tascam. No reply from them.

Only thing i can think of is both boards are AMD based.

So, what USB cards did you guys buy?
