Hi,

I have one project where if I use ctrl-home to return to the start the mix is completely messed up.  One of the track sounds and shows about 12db louder that it did previously.  As far as I can see none of the controls have changed.

Any ideas?

Sounds impossible.

What happens if you press w to return to the start of the project?

Double check any automation on your tracks/busses

Hi,

Using W is fine, but ctrl-home is not.

I didn't know about W, so this is a useful work around.

More interestingly if I turn off automation reads before using ctrl-home and then re-enable them afterwards it is fine too.

Does ctrl-home re-set the automation in some way?

I am using the latest version of Sonar Platinum.

ctrl + home will only reset any automation envelopes to the value they are at 01:01:000

Does it still happen if you temporarily global disable automation read (R! in the control Bar)

Hi,

No if I disable global automation, do ctrl-home and then re-enable all it fine.

W is not a work around it is the "return to zero" keyboard shortcut.

I would suggest deleting the envelope and re-creating it
But first, open up your automation lanes, see if anything weird is happening there

Thanks everyone I have found he problem, although I don't understand why it was.  One of the parts had small glitch at the very start of the automation for the tube compressor input.  I removed this and so far it seems ok.  Although I don't see why this should have caused problems with other tracks in the mix.

[As an aside I recorded a pedal steel being played though a two channel volume pedal.  Once channel had a constant level sin signal going into it, the other the instrument signal going to the monitor amp.  I recorded the direct output of the instrument before the volume pedal, and the sin output that had been through the pedal.  This meant I had the direct instrument sound and a separate pedal envelope, which I joined in the mix.  I extracted the envelop using the analyst effect. The glitch was at the very start of the extracted envelop!]

Thanks for the various prompt responses.
