  • What is "VPA Compatibility Error" Re: VST Loading??

When starting Sonar and VSTs are being scanned, I always the following (I could not get images to load or attach -- no "options" in the upload box and I don't have a URL for them):

1.  A dialog box that says "VPA Compatibility Error" at the top and then in the middle "VPA PlugIn rejected VPA Host".  When I click OK I get:

2.  A larger dialog box titled "Cakewalk VST scan: VST Plug-in Load Error".  SampleTank 3 is always identified as the plug-in, and below that it says "The failure point was reported as" and in the box is "controller ->initialize".  I then have the choice to disable the plugin or enable it "(Risky)", and about the 3rd time this happened I clicked "Enable" despite the risk and have no problem with the plugin.  But I'd like to get rid of the boxes at start-up.

All help is greatly appreciated.  And I have uninstalled and reinstalled.

I did a google search for the text "VPA Compatibility Error" (Including quotes) and came up with this:

https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/vpa-compatibility-error-vpa-plugin-rejected-vpa-host/

What you might want to do is, after you have uninstalled SampleTank 3, do a search of your entire hard drive to make sure there are no files related to SampleTank 3 left at all.  Pay particular attention to your VST paths as defined in Sonar.  Once you are sure there are no SampleTank 3 related files left, then do the installation of SampleTank 3.  If possible, see of there is an update to SampleTank 3 that you are entitled to and install that.

Then in Sonar do a scan and reset

Thanks very much for the effort and I'll try uninstalling/reinstalling again.  Based on what you wrote, it seems quite possible I did not clear out everything.  It is much appreciated.

The Sweetwater article you found was a major help, and timesaver (I must have mistyped VPA when I did my Google search because I hadn't found it).  Instead of uninstalling, etc., I found all the SampleTank VST3 and DLL files, compared the dates, and added .OLD to the oldest ones to see what happened -- Sonar loaded the most recent plugin (VST3) without any error notice.

I really appreciate your help.

Right click the SampleTank VST3 dll file and check thee various tabs that pop up to see what version of the file you have.
The latest SampleTank version is V 3.6.7

Thanks, Mudgel, I'll look into that to confirm I've selected the right one, but (and this is a legitimate question though it might sound snarky ) wouldn't the most recently-dated DLL/VST3 file be the most recent one?

I'll have to check this tonight when I get back, but thanks for the giving me the most recent version number.
