In most cases,  when someone renews something,  say car insurance for instance,  you receive a discount for paying the entire premium upfront.  If you choose a payment plan,  your total of payments is usually higher.  I guess this just isn't the case with Cakewalk anymore.  My renewal date for Sonar Platinum is quickly approaching,  and the price for an entire year upfront for me is $199,  but if I go with the monthly plan,  it's $14.99/month.  I just can't wrap my head around the fact that it's more than $179.88,  which would be 12 months of $14.99.  If anything,  it should actually be less than $179.88 for a "Pay One Time" option.  I would expect some type of discount for paying an entire year in advance.

The strange thing is,  this only applies to Platinum users.

Sonar Professional is $99 One Time,  or $9.99/month,  so over 12 months you save $20.88 by going with the One Time payment.

Sonar Artist is $49 One Time,  or $4.99/month,  so over 12 months you save $10.88 by going with the One Time payment.

I see that pricing as
Sonar Home Studio, Artist, Professional and Platinum. There's 4 products in the list now.
@ USD$49, $99, $199, $499
Monthly 4 99, 9.99, 19.99, $49.99

To get upgrade prices I have to go to my account and that will show them in Australian $ and that I have Platinum already.

That's very sloppy, I think Splat renewal used to be 19.99 a month and I know for sure the first yearly renewal was a 149 special offer. Sounds like they changed one and not the other.

Sloppy is not taking advantage of the lifetime update offer, when ones expects to renew a few months after that.

Buuuuuuurn! :)
Actually speaking for myself, I did.
Still I agree with the OP it's weird and probably unintended advertising/pricing.

Hi. I believe that you have to put it in your cart to see your actual price.
All the best.

Believe me,  I did that already,  and the price didn't change.
