Hello,
Just got word from my gear rep (top tier reseller) that they received word from Behringer that the X series has been indefinitely delayed with no ETA for delivery or if mass production would even begin. He went on to used the dreaded term vaporware. Very disappointed in hearing it 3rd party... I guess we we see what Uli and team have to say about this in time..... Especially in light of his posted comments on GS that I mentioned earlier.... Guess I could use an SM7b......

Wow that's rather disappointing.  I've really been impressed with what Behringer has been doing of late.  We have an X32 at church, and that thing is excellent.  I was looking into the XR18 stage box mixer, along with something like the X-air for some live applications for a new band I'm forming.  Looks like I may have to go the iPad/tablet route for mix control.

BTW, their PowerPlay mixer system is awesome as well.  My church used to have a top of the line Aviom system that they used with the old analog board. We switched it out when we went to the X32, because it's all integrated.  Now the headphone pre's on the aviom were better, no doubt, but I really like the functionality better on the Powerplay.  The fact it's got it's own parametric EQ, that you can self adjust for every channel and a limiter.

Behringer has really taken some strides forward, it's too bad they dropped the ball on this one.

I'm guessing they aren't going to make anymore announcements till it's ready. I'm thinking they might have run into issues making it work with X-AIR.

Response from Uli from GS: My guess... X-touch by Summer as stated above....Give or take another development. See below...
Dear all,
allow me add some clarity.
1.) The X AIR digital mixers have been shipping from our factory and the first model should soon arrive in stores. We have shipped a larger quantities of the XR18 model first, while more models will follow over the next few months. The corresponding IOS and Android Apps are now available, soon followed by the XR EDIT offline editor. Please note that the apps are not yet final and over the next months we will be continuously enhancing functionality.
2.) The X TOUCH controllers have been much delayed from their original intended launch date. We are very sorry for it, but please allow me to explain the reason.
During the design of the X AIR mixers we decided to substantially enhance the functionality of the X TOUCH controllers so aside from their originally intended DAW functionality, they can also remote control all of our X32 and X AIR mixers ultimately via a connected wireless router. We believe this is a very cool feature worth the delay.
Also due to the high priority of our X AIR mixers, we had to reallocate a large part of our engineering resources. This caused further delay of some already announced products. Even through we have one of the largest R&D teams in the industry (close to 300 engineers), R&D is always a constant balancing act between available resources.
We will produce the X TOUCH controllers and try everything possible to ship the first products in Q1. However shipping means from our factory and hence please add 1-2 months depending on your location.
Be assured that I fully understand your frustration and apologize for the delay. I hope the above information is helpful.
Warm regards
Uli

Great news that the X-touch is still coming. You should give the X32 a try Terrasin - it's a great piece of kit for the money. I too was a little nervous about buying one, but Behringer have outdone themselves on this one. They didn't acquire Midas for nothing:)

Hello,

Here is what they are telling customers on their Facebook Page from yesterday. All I can say is ... WOW....just.. WOW

Gary Voigt:
How about an update on the X-Touch...? After repeated requests, Behringer hasn't responded - Uli committed to having it out 1st quarter. That's over.

BEHRINGER:
Dear Gary, apologies for the delay. Due to the importance of the X AIR mixers, we have put all our efforts into these mixers. However we have a fully working unit at PL&S tradeshow.

Hello,

More comments from Behringer on the X- Touch.. Do not look for this product any time soon!

Gary Voigt:
Disappointing and frustrating that a product released over a year+ ago doesn't get focus to complete, instead, release dates/commitments continue to be pushed out...

Terry Causon:
Too late now, been waiting far too long, I've gone elsewhere

BEHRINGER:
Dear Gary Voigt, we fully respect your sentiment and again apologize. Like every company we only have limited resources and those have been all allocated to the XR series due to the market response. We will try to learn a lesson from this issue.

At least they are willing to give status reports. I can think of a few companies that would rather remain silent.

And to add my 1 cent.

Let say X-Touch is released... How it is going to communicate with SONAR? The only way is Mackie Control plug-in. From this forum you can find some "happy users" of SSL and ICon. Does someone think that Behringer is going to imitate MCU better then other?
