Hey!

I've had some problems with my Rolad Quad Capture and now one of the inputs have given up. So I'm starting to look around for an alternative.

What I want:
1. High quality build and drivers
2. Lowest possible latency
3. Simple to use. "Less is more."
4. If I want to run a game on the computer that shouldnt be a problem.
5. Windows 10 and Sonar compability

I've taken a look at the RME Babyface pro wich seem interesting. Any other suggestions? I want it to be a step up from the Quad but I dont want to pay for tons of features I'm never going to use, like 24 inputs, onboard DSP etc..

My main use for the card is to plug an electric guitar and microphones. I mainly work using electic guitar and soft synths. I'm never going to mic a drumkit or hook it up to 5.1 surround or stuff like that. I have two small Genelec monitors, thats it.

Many thanks in advance!
/M

definitely in the league of RME. fulfils requirements 1, 2, 5 ... and 3 if you just go with their routing presets ... no idea about 4 ...

I moved from Roland interfaces to the bigger MOTU AVBs and don't regret it

There are so many good interfaces to choose from... I've also had many and for most part, liked all of them. Here's the part where I try to help :)

IMO, it's the interface search stopper. The sound of their units are clear and dimensional, any latency discussion turns into a brag session and the support is incredible. I'm still getting firmware and driver updates every 6 months or so for my older Multiface II (which will have to be pried from my hands).   I do believe you could be very happy with a MOTU, Tascam, Steinburg, Audient, Focusrite... Most if not all of these are really good units.

I have the rme babyface pro.

excellent unit,
it worked on my old win xp machine without even loading any drivers.

!!

the preamps are extremely neutral and transparent.

if you want color, look elsewhere,
or do what i do...

run color preamps into it for stellar conversion.
