revnice1, when you create a new project, does it take a long time to be created ?

I tried using SHIFT + double click on a file but I can't have the Sonar Safe Mode (I have the Personalization message), how did you do please ?

You have to keep going past the Personalization message.

Hold down Shift all the time. Hold it down while clicking the Sonar icon, say Yes to the Personalization message, continue holding Shift while you navigate (using the Sonar menu) to the file and keep holding Shift down while you double click the file name. Then you'll see the question about plugs, you don't get a list, you get a question for each one (or you can say No to All). One by one is better if you're trying to isolate the culprit.

The Personalization, whatever it is, didn't seem to make an changes or difference to my files.

Once in the file, I took the opportunity to Consolidate Audio Folder, found under Tools. That gets rid of audio that isn't being used in the file.

If you want to open a second file in Safe Mode, you only need to hold Shift while double-clicking the filename. You don't need to close Sonar and start all over again.

Ok thanks.

I find the culprit which is not Kontakt or other plug-ins as in Safe Mode, I click Yes to All and it opens instantly. It's the Browser that makes my files take a while to open (Safe Mode prevents the Browser to be opened).

If in a file, the Browser is docked (minimized or not) or undocked but opened, it takes a while. If I undock the Browser and close it, next time I open the file, no problem but if I click on B to open it... long time. Once the Browser is opened, I can minimize/maximize it with B with no problem but if I close it... again a long time to open.

It also explains why a file made in Platinum, saved in 8.5 and reopened in Platinum is loaded instantly as the Browser didn't exist in 8.5.

I found this but I have no floppy disk listed : https://www.cakewalk.com/...wser-slow-on-some-comp

What browser? You mean an internet browser?

I guess he means the Media / Plugin Browser (shortcut "B") in SONAR.

Yes, this one :). I think the Browser tries for the Media tab to scan a part of my computer that takes a long time to read but I didn't change anything since a while so I don't see why now it's longer than before.

Perhaps have the ability to chose what folders Browser can scan would help to access it quickly.

I have tried all of these suggestions, and have upgraded Kontakt 5 to the latest version, and it has made no difference in the load times of my test project.

IIRC,  my slowdown first occured when I started using multiple screensets on this project.  Other projects without multiple screensets load much faster.

I'm curious if those of you with fast load times are using multiple screensets in your projects?

In my case, it seems that Platinum has gotten slowly, progressively more sluggish in most every way over the past few updates.

The other thing I just noticed in the past few days is when scrolling left and right in the track view, it has become very slow and stuttering.  It used to be very smooth and fast.  I have updated my graphics drivers (Nvidia) and it did not fix the issue.

Did you take a look at the link I provided above ? https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013218/Opening-Browser-and-or-Switching-Screensets-containing-Browser-slow-on-some-comp

Slow opening could be related to the Browser and/or the Screensets.

I don't think it's Kontakt related. Perhaps more to the fact that the more our HHDs or SSDs become full over the time, the more it takes time for Sonar to open because of the time spent scanning drives (just a guess).
