People have a tendency to complain when they have problems, not when things are going well.

Well, duh ! Why would anybody complain if they had no problems and things were going well ?

The best thing about the change from X2 to X3 was the VST background scanner.  Sometimes, it's the little things

The last time I launched X2 and had to wait for it to finish scanning the VST folders, I uninstalled it!

For all of the new stuff that was added since X3, take a look here!  I am still playing catch up!

I jumped from X3 to Platinum and my system was rock solid on Win 7 and now it is rock solid on Win 10.

But as stated Win 7 will die soon so you should look into Win 10, especially if you use the computer for the Internet.

Hi. I came from X3 to Platinum, and I am very happy. My system has been very stable, and I have not had any show stoppers whatsoever. I wouldn't even want to go back to X3
All the best.

My point exactly!
You get 99 compliments on something and one complaint, it's human nature to remember the one complaint rather than the compliments.

You can install multiple versions of Sonar.  It does not overwrite any existing install.  Each version gets installed into it's own folder, so uninstalling the latest should be no problem.

The only problem I'm aware of is uninstalling an older version.  Sometimes it has plugins that your existing projects may depend on, that are no longer supplied by the latest Sonar version.  Certain FX and instruments came with X2, that are no longer supplied with Platinum, for example.

Many people leave their old versions installed side by side with the new to maintain plugins.  The program folder uses relatively little disk space, so no problem.  Or you can always re-run an old installer with custom install mode, and only select the plugins that you need to be installed.

If you are happy with X2 and have no problems, then why switch?  "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Marien,

I have had no problems with Splat.  I am running Splat with the December update and on Win 10 Anniversary update.
