Ripple editing is common with video editing software. It opens up space and closes spaces automatically when you insert and delete material. It basically solves a lot of the issues people have when doing arrangements in SONAR with inserting, deleting, or moving large blocks of data.

What a delightful name for a bug fix.

Telling it like it is. We had an option to delete blank space that used to work and then didn't. Perhaps selling a bug fix as a new feature is another big trend in software development.

Ripple editing is not the same as deleting space. It automatically moves future data when you edit on the timeline. It requires quite a bit  of support to the editing infrastructure.

ripple editing (shuffle editing) is great, reaper has had it for years, studio one and others have had it for quite a while, it's good to see sonar finally catching up in this area

HI:)

I found a few videos on "Ripple Editing", but all I can see, that it is working similar to "Snap to Clip".
Can't see any difference:(

What does Ripple Editing exactly??

Thanks;)
Bassman.

It's really gonna come down to how it's implemented but imagine this: you have ripple editing enabled for all tracks. You split all the tracks at measure 5, and then slip edit the end of the first section of Track 1 to roll it out more. Every other track and automation/tempo/meter slides along with it. That's super powerful. No more inserting measures, no more guessing if your buss automation will move with the tracks, the timeline automatically expands or shrinks to change with the edit you're doing.

Now as I said, it all depends on how this is implemented. In Vegas Pro, it works that way, and you can also do individual tracks too, so you could leave the rest of your project intact and just ripple edit on a single track, for example.

Pretty excited about this feature!
