A few things after reading this.
The USB 3.0 issue. What I have found is if you use a USB 2 extension cable, your USB 3.0 port becomes USB 2.0 speeds. So not sure if this also makes a USB 3.0 port behave like a USB 2.0. But it certainly seems so.
Sonar LE - I have the X1 LE version came with my Roland A 49. It seems to work the same as my other versions as far as set up and general layout. But it's a bit of a waist of time otherwise. Home Studio is 100% better.
I don't think Sonar is wise to even hand out LE as it will turn more off of Sonar than win over.
It would make more sense to hand out an extended free trial of Home Studio or even Plat.
Losing Audio - Often on board audio drivers can take over Sonar. This I've seem a lot here on the forum. " All my other music programs work all except Sonar"
Sonar it would seem is a little more picky about driver environment. This is not a bad thing overall . The solution is often to completely remove all other audio drivers so there can be no conflict.
PCI audio cards, HDMI audio, Creative Labs and asio4all installed drivers are known to kick proper ASIO drivers out of Sonar.
I'm sure you've followed this, but a Tascam interface driver install requires you "wait until your told" before you turn it on or plug in the USB cable during installation.
Have you tried power the interface with a power supply? USB buss power is not the greatest idea. Handy for a laptop at a gig, but I would always use wall power at home.
