Hi Cakewalk,
That's another great update to Sonar.
Personally I would have tried to implement this by adding the record button.
(Rightclicking and selecting 'split instrument track' is not where most (especially future) customers would expect to find this feature).
It's paticularly in this area where I think Sonar and probably any DAW could winn a lot.
In my opinion, if Cakewalk set a goal to become the most 'user/new costumer' friendly DAW, they could welcome a lot of happy new customers and please a portion of the current.
Would make it a requirement for all new features to meat this goal.
I understand you cannot make a DAW super user friendly (idiot proof) overnight, and not all current Sonar users think it's important, but maybe it's something to think about.

If you had a super-easy (idiot proof) DAW where customers are never held up because they don't know 'how to'....and then make it the best looking DAW by for example having a 'stainless steel' look for the tracks/buss backgrounds, letting customers choose their colors (copper, steel, brass, painted steel like the Console emulator) letting them choose LED Vu meters, or vintage analog meters would attract many.

But Sonar is great like it is now, I'm very happy/thankful using Cakewalk Sonar.
Just hoping/trying to contribute a little..

And moore Scooks please !
:)
Thanks for sharing the link.
The developers are doing an incredible job.
Not sure as in this area too I'm an idiot, perhaps this would have been possible/improvement....add 'record button' when pressed pop-up 'Show midi content yes/no' etc..

I prefer using MIDI and audio tracks over instrument tracks (and I assume many others do) and in that approach the record button is right there ...
