The Alesis V61 keyboard/controller is a lovely bit of kit but is anybody else experiencing difficulty with the V61 Editor Software when used within Sonar Platinum? I can't get it to work at all. It crashes as soon as you load the Device Set Up. It loads fine on it's own but as soon as Sonar is launched it fails. I realise that the onus is on Alesis to sort this out as they should test against and within available DAWs (the opposite scenario being almost impossible) and to be honest it's not the end of the world for me but just wondered what others thought.

The editor is working throw MIDI. Windows was never good in sharing MIDI between applications. And I guess the editor was not written to update the configuration on the fly.

The Editor works fine within Windows 10, that's not a problem, it just crashes when used within Sonar Platinum. No problem with any other software I have.

I mean the editor and sonar try to work with the same MIDI devices. And Windows does not "like" that (sometimes it is not allowed to "share", sometimes something crash). You can try to disable all MIDI devices in Sonar and check the editor still crash. With some luck it will not. If that is the case, try to enable one by one in Sonar till the editor crash (can be Alesis, can be something else). It should be possible to eliminate that using software midi looper (there are many).

I'll give that a go when I'm brave Azslow! Thanks for the tip!
