Alpha means NOT rock solid. Alpha means some things mostly work.

In the real world, the court of public opinion will make a very brutal assessment of even an Alpha version.  They only have one shot at this launch.  Better make the best of it.

I personally think it's suicide to release an Alpha in public beyond a closed door, no disclosure agreement, test group.

I agree 100%.
I for one do not follow Cake logic in this situation.
If they have actually yanked Alpha OS completely, there may be less flack than with a release of a half-baked version.

There is always the possibilty that announcement of Alpha OS was simply to increase lifetime update purchases due to Gibson cash flow issues at that time.
In the absense of any real information, one can only speculate.
If Cake wants to dispel such speculation, then simply state what is going on.

Just FYI - Cakewalk is its own division and profit center. It's not expected to make Gibson profitable, but to make Cakewalk profitable. Of course in turn that will make Gibson Brands more profitable as well, but Cakewalk's first responsibility is to itself.

I actually don't know what's going on with the Mac version. With new people there, Cakewalk now occupies about 10-15% of my "Gibson Brands time," and there are a lot of other demands on that time right now. Most of what I do for Cakewalk is evenings and weekends. That's why it's "Friday's Tip of the Week," not "Tuesday's Tip of the Week."

I think that you speculations are nothing, based on no facts.

I don't see the issue, either.

I would like to see the mac version, too. One of my students in dying for it to come out.

So it's a little late, what IS the problem?
