?
This Fall, a free Alpha version of SONAR OS X ... will become available to gauge the interest of doing a full Mac port.

I thought Cakewalk is serious enough not to throw lies, it's really sick if they just said that to catch more customers to buy Sonar lifetime upgrades,
if they didn't tell any date, I would totally understand that; as I'm aware of how complex it is to code software, even more complex to port software onto another platform,
@jb101 "So it's a little late, what IS the problem?" - problem is Cakewalk remains silent for half year, after all the hype, they did 180° turn, and I wouldn't be surprised if they denied any Mac OSX development later

It does make for fairly bad PR - I told several of my clients to expect a Mac version of some kind soon, which is what was advertised when the lifetime membership was promoted. I also noticed the Lifetime Membership offer has fallen away. Maybe the entire business model/strategy is being addressed again?..

@Tzzmk

It´s simply not true that cakewalk was lying about the points you are refering to.

And yes, Cakewalk announced a mac alpha version for this fall
and they are a bit late on the bus.
The bakers in dec 2016 also wrote several times in different threads in this forum about new features and other big news which are in development and will in some weeks be released.

Why not giving the bakers the time to develope a good alpha release,
specially if you want Sonar 4 Mac (like everybody else) to be as fully fledged as  possible ?
Why so extrem diffident ?

Have a nice day.

Lie is probably too strong a word, or maybe this is the language barrier at work. However they did promise a version this fall and it didn't come, at the very least that's a broken promise and deserves a little more criticism than "perhaps they're a bit late", especially since the original announcement came at the same time the lifetime updates arrived and I get the feeling some people were pulled across the line with that in mind.
At the very least, some kind of update would be classy.

That said, purely for me personally, I hope they drop it altogether.

Good point,Ludwig,
for me the extension of the lifetime update offer was also a desaster.
Thre have really been some user who  got the lifetime update offer before september16 under the impression that this offer will surely not be extended .
The PR-department of CW seems to not look ahead tooooo much .

How did they do a 180 degree turn?

What nonsense, or, at the very least, hyperbole and drama queen behaviour.

Perhaps an update on the release would have been a good idea. They obviously think not. They know better about what is happening than I do.

But "lie", " 180 degree turn", "deny any Osx development" is poppycock.

Sorry, don't follow your reasoning on this.

There is no 'reason"  in his reasoning;

English isn't my native language, so I genuinely do apologize if those words are perceived as more offensive or even have slightly different meaning than equivalent in Czech,
I'm not trying to bash Cakewalk, or spread hatred/drama, or desperately want to try Sonar4Mac,
I'm just trying to point out that Cakewalk should have settled things more smart regarding potential Mac version,
I've been using Sonar since version 8 or so, personally I do think it is best daw for Windows platform, so it makes me really sad to see when Cakewalk is clearly tottering around recently (everything started with introduction of Command Center and unreliable online license verification which brought some negative reputation points indeed)

I understand cultural differences and translation can cause misunderstanding, so I apologise too if I came on too strong.
Your English is so good that it doesn't come across as someone talking in a second language. Again, I am sorry.

I just think we need to cut Cakewalk a little slack. They have always been honest and gained my trust.

i think cakewalk should let us know what's happening, something, anything, the silence is deafening

(fwiw, the current situation is reminding me of when project5 was dropped...)
