Have not seen any new "Future Updates" or a while.
http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Whats-New#In-The-Oven
This is one item I always look forward to checking out.

One been in the oven for six about 6 months, and the other keeps going back in the oven because it's still a bit pink in the middle.

I was actually expecting ripple editing by now....  but the Windows 10 update curve ball in Nov/Dec 2016 may have put that on the back burner for a bit...   Here's hoping for ripple editing in the January 2017 update.

It's going to be a biggie, when it comes.
I do think attention should be else where than more comping refinements for while. So it's hard to be excited about. I thought the 'in the oven' lists used to be bit bigger, and with one being in the oven for so long. it's a shame there are a few others there. Seems a number of users are calling for a variety of midi improvements. Controller options seems a little hot topic at the moment. I think orchestral composers are more a thing than 5-6 years ago, and the samplers are making more a more use of controllers to sculpt the sounds.

Still wondering why the have not posted any new "Future Updates"
These are without a release date. It's always good to look forward to a new feature.

For me I really would like something like Patcher as in FL Studio or multi-instruments
as in S1. Ok I can use Bidule!

Would like to see something similar to the Cubase Logical Editor, Transformer and Input Transformer.

Quote from the 2016.12 eZine: "However, in the secret antechambers where we do all our reverse engineering of alien technology, we’ve been plotting out SONAR’s direction for 2017. We’re not ready to share any of this just yet…but we will over the next year. Stay tuned!"

Apparently CW no longer uses the term "rolling updates"

For a long time Cakewalk didn't say anything. Then they decided to let the curtain up a bit, but the problem with that is if you tell people what you have planned and something doesn't happen, people say "Hey...what happened?" If you don't tell people, they think "nothing's happening." Or you can have something happen like Workspaces, where what they announced ended up being less ambitious than how it actually turned out. And we had NO advance warning about WASAPI and the latency improvements (which as a laptop owner, was a HUGE deal to me).

It does seem like Cakewalk goes through cycles. After all the massive changes in November, December was pretty much just fixes. It wouldn't surprise me if January was the same. But I don't know.

I believe personally that Cakewalk is not going to be as open with future updates and to be honest I don't blame them. Too many people griping about where is this, where is that. They should go to a more logical approach "your food will be done when its ready" sure that's harsh and im sure they wont be like that. but id rather see the fixes than the toys right now. we had like 7 out of 9 months straight of all new stuff.
I would like to see some improvements to certain areas, I wont use this thread as my soapbox but I hope improvements will be in made to some things in the whatchamacallit area there.

I am for open communication on what is going on.
CW can add a disclaimer.
Yes, if there is a delay people can ask why. We are human!
CW can respond with hey we had a top employ leave, our building got flooded or
this is taking more time than expect, we decided to add more features that's
why we are late. That's communicating! I love it when that happens.
