Have a serious look at the new MOTU Ultralite AVB.
Incredible bang-for-the-buck!

Mile's Davis' engineer is now using the Ultralite AVB.
Fellow forum member Gerry Peters will soon have one.

We have no latency issues with the 2i2 when using guitar amp sims while recording. The UX2 on the other hand........

I really only want a preamp in my interface. I would rather do the processing with the tools I have in Sonar. I want dry signals going in. I won't even use John's Mic Mechanic(he uses it live). I assumed that is how it's supposed to be done. I dunno.....

Hi Jim,
I intend to ;-) I was just going to post to see whether people preferred this or the Fireface UC - and I was hoping you'd respond. I just think the MOTU is newer (so hopefully there'll be drivers for a good long while). I worry slightly about the "MOTU isn't a Windows company" but I use a MOTU MIDI interface (MIDIExpress XT) that's really old and still has reasonably recent drivers, and works great. I'm pretty sure it's just between the Ultralite AVB and the UC.

The Fireface UC is nice unit.
If the choice is between those two, you can't make a bad decision.

Thanks Jim - that will make the decision a lot easier ;-)

EDIT: They're both about the same price in the UK, which seems different than the prices on your website.
(I'd definitely buy it from you if I didn't get stung on postage to the UK, and import duties)

Shipping overseas is expensive... no doubt about it.
Let us know which unit you choose... and how you like it.

Plus 20% Duty plus "admin charges" etc...

I will do - it won't be for another month or two though...

Not too long ago... we shipped a custom Rack-mount system to the UK for Evan Jolly (professional composer).
Shipping was ~$600.

We had to mod to the Rack case... to allow mounting a large CPU cooler.
Hey, wonder if I could pitch an idea to the History Channel...
New reality series called... "World of Workstations"  LOL

I have an RME UFX and it uses th same drivers as the UC. They are stable as a rock and Totalmix is an incredible piece of software. I can't say enough good things about RME.
