I would like to be able to sort, tag, and otherwise organize my loop files into additional folders without actually moving or copying the loop files themselves. 
 
For example, I may have a folder with only tambourine loops in it, but the actual audio loop files will stay in their original hard disk location. 
 
Perhaps I might want to add tags to the loops. Such as tempo, key, instrument, style, etc. 
 
This is more or less implemented in Native Instruments Maschine as well as Kontakt.
