hi everyone. question, can one automate a drum track? what i'm trying to do is attenuate the volume of a snare drum in a couple places. I 'm using superior drummer.
what i've tried so far is use the freeze control then hit "W" to write the automation. 
at first it seemed to work then when i hid the drum tracks what i did disappeared.
does anyone have any ideas?

Assuming you have all of your drums routed to separate audio tracks in SONAR, just go to the Snare track, change the edit filter to Track Automation > Volume.
 
This will insert a volume envelope for you to tweak at will.
 
Single clicking anywhere on it will insert a single node
you can do lots of things and edit envelopes in several different ways:

No need to freeze anything

You could also edit the midi to reduce the volume on the places you need.
