Hello all,

has anybody used Independence free library as VST, please, with Sonar X3, please?

I downloaded it and pointed at it but Sonar does not seem to see it. I did not intall anything but the library mind you.

Any help appreciated. Merry Christmas :)
with best regards, MFA?

Hi Hue

Please make sure you are running Sonar X3D.
Under VST Settings in preferences please make sure you have set the folder (looks like you have).
Also please reset and rescan your plugs (after you have installed X3D patch).

Hope this helps...

Not running the free, but running the full independence Pro, under X2.
What I recall is that it put the VST DLL in a very strange place, I had to track it down and I can't remember if I just moved it or pointed Sonar to it.  Once I did that and a re-scan found it.

Also, I think it can install standalone as well, so make sure you actually told it to load VST as well.

Hey Alex,

no luck. Did all that - the Independence Free libraries seem to be full of files of .ytil format (?) which Sonar does not recognise.

Did you install the Independence Free sampler?
Just the libraries won't help without the sampler software. ytif is their proprietary format for their samples.

Hey guys, thanks for reading and reacting! You are helpful!

OK, I did install Magix Independence Live (which i think is the sampler).

I get teh sounds from the library with the sampler now. Sounds good.

But - how can I use those sounds now with Sonar, please?

Say I want to use the bodhran sound of the  Magix with session drummer pad, please?

You would have to set up Session Drummer as a VSTi on a track, pick the "groove" you want..

then set up Independence on a track as a VSTi, pick the "Sound" you want..and your good to go...

Check YouTube for some of the tutorials on these things...they are quite beneficial for the novice to
get him familiar with what to do do...also, purchase some of the Video's from the Cake store or
from Groove 3.  These will get you there also.  $15 for one month unlimited access to Groove 3 videos.
Well worth the money.

"then set up Independence on a track as a VSTi"

How do you do that, please? Independence does not show up as an instrument in the VST.

And all this for want of a bodhran sound...hahah.
