OK, there have been some recent changes in Sonar.  I now need to know how to remove a VST instrument from a song. The website user's manual doesn't say and I'm not figuring it our on my own.  Sometimes I think my IQ is shrinking but I KNOW that's not the case.

Thanks for your help!

telecharge
You should be able to right-click it and delete.

I don't think you can do that with instruments telecharge, only Fx plugins.

marvinglenn2 open up the Synth Rack View (Ctrl + Shift + S) and delete it form there, using the red X.
You will also have the option to delete the tracks associated with the synth

Both are right, once you are in the synth rack, you can delete the synth with the red X or from the right click menu.

Also, if you delete all tracks connected to a synth, it is deleted automatically (if you have Sonar 11/2016 or later installed).

I discovered this new behaviour the other day while I was deleting some tracks. I don't recall seeing it documented anywhere.

This is one of those great under-rated improvements in Sonar recently!

The default used to be that if you deleted the tracks, the synth would remain, until you deleted it as well.  I do recall a thread complaining about that.  Somebody must have been listening

As I understand it now, if you delete all of the tracks associated with a synth, the synth will be deleted as well.

while it only mentions instrument tracks, it is true for any case when all tracks referencing a synth are removed.

Maybe this explains why Home Studio does not have a synth Rack at all. This was worrying me that somewhere hidden was a synth rack slowly filling up with unused synths I had loaded, tried, didn't like and moved on.
I just delete the synth track so I guess that's all that's needed now.
In the past you would delete the synth track but the synth was still in the rack.. dead and unusable, but still there.
I'm used to deleting from the synth rack and telling it to delete associated tracks, this deletes the Synth track too automatically.
Make sure you change the output of any midi tracks that were using it first or they will be deleted too.
Boy they like to mess with our heads lately!
If this keeps up I'm pulling the plug and reading the release notes before I update :)

I don't know about the rest of you but I've had some "crashing" issues deleting certain VSTi's with the
re "X" in Synth Rack.
The AAS player is one.
Naturally these CWBRN's remain "New"; I get it they're busy.
Anyway just an FYI; save, save, backup, save!
