I have a question regarding the clipping indicator on a track meter.  When I am in the initial stages of mixing and fleshing out volume levels, I periodically clip tracks.  Every time a track or bus clips, the red indicator lights up, but it stays on permanently until I click it.  Seems like I spend a lot of time clicking on the clip indicator to set it back to its iintial state. I would prefer it to stay on for a certain length of time, and then disappear until the next clip... is there a setting I could adjust to make that change?  It's probably right in from of my nose, but I can't seem to find it...
Thanks!

If you press spacebar (play) it will also clear the red clipping indicators.
But do not forget that these indicators are essential to prevent audio clipping. Always use a good compressor and limiter before exporting the final audio.

Thanks for the help, Rogerio.

When I press the spacebar, it does reset, but the music begins to play again.   Is there any way to just have the clip indicators reset without the music starting up again?   Maybe a key binding?

Comps + limiters = very important

Thanks again...Salud!

By the way, R, your animation music is really cool!!

Myself I want those red light to always show. I deal with it immediately. Why would you want to ignore them?
The quick fix would be to turn down the tracks gain. But myself I find the over, zero in and lower it with the applied gain process. If there's a lot of them I will either re do the track properly or tool copy to Wave Lab and mirco edit the wave. Some use volume envelops.

And for me the lights do re set when I hit the space bar. Not sure how this is toggled, I certainly don't change much in Sonar from the defaults. But its easy to hit a key that changes things and not be aware you did.

I understand the wish and support the idea that this should be an option if it's not.
But personally, I wouldn't change it. It's actually quite important that they stay on forever, you may not always have seen the clip, it could have been on a track that was out of sight at the time. You should never just "click it away" unless you actually fixed the clipping. Or you think you did. If you come back later and see the track clipped again you didn't fix it properly. If there was a time limit on it it you might never notice. The light isn't actually in your way, you just don't like looking at it I guess. But if the check engine light on your car keeps coming on you should also check the engine, not turn off the light.

You could use the key binding: Reset All Clips and Numeric Peak Indicators in Global Bindings.

But that would reset not only clip indicators but all other level indicators, too.

Just to corroborate the above opinions, red lights are important and should not be ignored.
The best way to not see them, is: do not cause them. That is, decrease the gain, and/or use envelopes to decrease the volume at the points where they occur, and/or use compressors and finally a limiter.
All of this, of course, with knowledge of the end result you want.

In practice, in Sonar, audio clipping only occurs on the last bus, as I could verify in this post. Or possibly some VST on some intermediate track or bus, which does not know how to deal with signals above 0 db (but most know how to handle it).

Therefore, audio clipping will occur only in the exported final file (or in the final audio that is outputting from your speaker.

Thanks all... your advice makes a lot of sense, and should be standard operating procedure... maybe its just me and my newb ways-- a little impatient I guess, as when I am checking tracks for clipping, I want to be able to rewind etc. and change the gain/volume levels quickly without having to click both the master and the final stereo output(speakers) faders over and over(and over and over) lol  It speaks to my lack of expertise(usually takes me multiple trials to figure things out.)

Anyway, back to the board.
