I feel like I should know this but am drawing a blank:  What is the "Modal Encoder" option in Sonar's External Encoder Configuration Utility?  I've searched the docs, the forums, the 'Net.  Nothing.

Any assistance is appreciated.

It means that the external encoder executable will be launched as a "modal process". i.e like a modal dialog box in SONAR you cannot get back to the main application until the encoder process has completed or you cancel out.

Not the most intuitive name I agree :)

Noel,

Thanks for the info. That resolves part of my doc-related issue CWBRN-45862. "Three fields are undefined: Source Format, Modal Encoder, and Keep Source File." Since I reported that, I think I've figured out about the intermediate file.

There's still issue CWBRN-45857 about the Source Format dropdown. I found the workaround, which is to edit it in the registry.

I think I might have stumbled upon issue CWBRN-45857, it seems that the Cakewalk External Audio Encoder Setup doesn't save the Source Format right when I enter a new external encoder... I know because when I hit "Keep source file", I see a FLAC file has been made in the output directory, but I specified '"Wave" in the encoder setup :-S Unfortunately, I can't find anything on CWBRN-45857, what is the workaround? Thanks very much in advance!
