  • Cannot find older Problem Report threads [CWBRN] on this forum - where to find?

I stumbled upon an issue with the Cakewalk External Audio Encoder Setup - specifically with the Source Format dropdown menu. It's not working right, causing errors when I try to define an external encoder. I looked in this forum for answers and it looks like Mitch_I has found a workaround for this problem, as described in issue "CWBRN-45857". But when I search for "CWBRN-45857" I get no results... Where can I find this thread? It might contain the solution to a problem I've spent my entire evening on now... Thanks in advance!

The user may not have created a thread about the problem or failed to add the CWBRN to the thread after reporting the problem to Cakewalk.

I did a Google search for the CWBRN number you were looking for, and found this thread, from May 2016:

That was the only hit on that report number - hope it helps,

My guess is that is where the OP picked up the CWBRN.

So - using the forum search mechanism doesn't work so well, and many/most folks use Google to search for forum content matches on their search terms.

For the search I did for your CWBRN ID, I launched a Google search, using the following terms:

site:forum.cakewalk.com CWBRN-45857

In the search terms above, the site:forum.cakewalk.com tells Google to only look at forum.cakewalk.com for any matches, and then looks for matches for CWBRN-45857.

So, if I wanted to find Cakewalk Forums help on the Sonar Picture Cache, I would use:

site:forum.cakewalk.com Sonar Picture Cache

The forum search mechanisms are a mess, so I suggest you just use Google, and the filters as I have shown above, and you will quickly find good quality search results.

Well obviously I did a Google search too before I posted this thread... and you found the same post as I did that mentioned the "CWBRN-45857" thread that I'm looking for...  I'm looking for the original post that created the CWBRN-45857 problem report, because the answer to my question is probably in that particular thread...

OK, but does that mean that the entire thread is no longer accessible ?

This is a peer-to-peer user forum. Posts in this forum do not create problem reports. CWBRN numbers are issued to a user when they file a problem report here. The number is part of the ticket tracking system used inside the company.

The user may not have created a thread about the problem or failed to add the CWBRN to the thread after reporting the problem to Cakewalk.

It seems unlikely that the user didn't add the CWBRN to the thread since he refers directly to "issue "CWBRN-45857", which apparently he reported earlier to the forum:

OK, thanks for the clarification! Does that mean I'll have to contact the developers for a follow-up on this issue?
